ALEA rolling out '12 Days of Safety' campaign

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is set to begin its annual "12 Days of Safety" campaign aimed at providing drivers with important safety tips and also educating them on the potential consequences of breaking the law on Alabama roadways.ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor said small actions and decisions while driving can have major consequences.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama has made a major investment into thirty five research projects scattered throughout the state. The organization said that in 2023 alone it dispensed grants worth a cumulative total of $1.25 million in an effort to support the various projects.

A group of female students at a Demopolis middle school are the recent victims of a child pornography scandal. Standard pictures of the children were uploaded into an Artificial intelligence program which then utilized the images to generate child pornography.

Alabama synagogues receive widespread bomb threats

Bomb threats were emailed to six of the seven Jewish entities in Central Alabama over the weekend, according to the Jewish Federation of Central Alabama. The entities that received the threats were the Jewish Federation of Central Alabama itself along with Temple Mishkan Israel in Selma, Temple Emanu-El in Dothan, Temple Beth Or in Montgomery,  Jewish Federation of Central Alabama in Montgomery,  Agudath Israel Etz Ahayem in Montgomery, Congregation Beth Shalom in Auburn.

Innovate Alabama's State of Innovation Day on Thursday was attended by not only some of the state's best entrepreneurs and small business aficionados, but also two well known political figures.Alabama Senate Pro Tem Greg Reed and former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, both members of the Alabama Innovation Commission, took park in the proceedings for the day.

An organization dedicated to putting more women in Alabama's workforce and expanding their job opportunities is set to begin what it has labeled a strategic fundraising campaign. The Women's Foundation of Alabama announced this week that it is launching its newest fundraiser, the Watershed Campaign, with a goal of raising $7.5 million and moving 10,000 women into the workforce.

Calling sexual assault a "hideous and inexcusable" crime that can have a lasting emotional and psychological impact, Governor Kay Ivey announced Thursday that she is awarding 13 grants worth a cumulative $2.7 million to various agencies throughout Alabama. The agencies receiving the funds specialize in helping victims of sexual assault find medical attention, counseling, and support.

For Senator Tommy Tuberville, voting in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act Wednesday evening, was bittersweet. Tuberville said that while the legislation is an overall positive thing for Alabama and the country it is lacking in several critical areas.

Senator Tommy Tuberville joined a group of fellow Republican senators in drafting and sending a letter to the controversial, acting Secretary of Labor, Julie Su recently. In the letter the legislators vocalized their opposition to a newly proposed Department of Labor rule that would give unions the ability to force and pressure temporary foreign agriculture workers into becoming members.

The Red Mountain Cut Foundation has been hard at work removing trash from the side of Alabama Highway 280. 800 lbs of it in fact.This past Saturday, the organization hosted the "Friends of the Cut" litter pickup, along two miles of the heavily trafficked roadway which runs through the Cut in Red Mountain between Homewood and St. Vincent's Hospital.

Two Alabama companies have won a combined $75,000 in non dilutive funding after beating out a group of ten other finalists during the Alabama Launchpad Cycle 2023 Finale.

The University of Alabama first began construction on its new multi-million dollar Catherine and Pettus Randall Welcome Center last February. As of yesterday, the school released an update and some photos of what students and visitors can expect at the new state of the art welcome center.

USA President Jo Bonner has announced that the University of South Alabama is breaking ground on a new medical building on its Mobile campus. The construction of the new facility is projected to cost $200 million.
