President Joe Biden’s announcement of a vaccine mandate for employers with 100 employees or more sent shockwaves through the political universe earlier this month.

However, according to U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville), legal challenges are likely for the Biden administration’s decree.

During an appearance on APTV’s “Capitol Journal,” the veteran congressman explained why he was skeptical of Biden’s effort.

“Where it really crosses a line is when you get in the private sector,” Aderholt said. “Obviously, if President Biden wants to mandate regarding the employees of the federal government, and when I say, the executive branch — you could make an argument for that. But when you go in and cross the line to say private individuals or private companies have to abide by a certain mandate, then that’s where I think it’s a bridge too far.”

“I do think there will be lawsuits filed,” he continued. “I think that before this really gets off the ground, there could possibly be a stay so that it will not even go into effect. But regardless, there will be lawsuits. I believe because I think this is an overreach of the federal government.”

Aderholt emphasized his position on vaccines and encouraged viewers to get the vaccine.

“Obviously, I’m not anti-vaccine,” he added. “I was vaccinated early on, shortly after I was able to get the vaccine, I got it. I just took my mom to get her booster, really her third shot. And I’m planning on taking the booster when I have an opportunity to get it. I encourage everyone to get it. But obviously, there are some people because of health reasons and because of other reasons don’t want to take it or can’t take it, and I think they should be protected.”
