Although former President Donald Trump may have encountered some difficulties organizing an event at the USS Alabama to commemorate the Fourth of July, he will return to Mobile for a rally later this year.

A rally was nixed at the battleship over concerns it was a “partisan political event.” Although the justification is in dispute, it won’t deter the former president from making another stop in the port city.

According to a Trump aide, given the heightened interest in an event planned for Sarasota, Fla., set for July 3, the Alabama event has been pushed back.

“The response to our rally that was being simultaneously planned in Sarasota has blown away our initial projections and so we made the decision some weeks back to do our Mobile rally later in the summer or early fall rather than try to stage two massive rallies on back to back days,” the aide told Yellowhammer News.

In 2015, shortly after announcing his presidential candidacy, and in 2016, after becoming president-elect, Trump held events at Ladd-Peebles Stadium near downtown Mobile.
