U.S. Rep. Palmer: ‘Disturbing’ Biden would call Afghanistan ‘an extraordinary success’ while flags flown at half staff

On Saturday, U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover), the chairman of the U.S. House Republican Policy Committee, discussed U.S. policy and the Afghanistan withdrawal during an appearance on Newsmax TV.

Palmer called it “disturbing” the Biden administration would declare the Afghanistan withdrawal an “extraordinary success” at the same time that flags were being flown at half staff to honor the 13 U.S. service members that were killed in a suicide bombing near the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul last month.

“I want to make one other point: It is so disturbing to me — the Biden administration, the President himself, has called this effort an extraordinary success,” he explained. “And he did it at a time when American flags all over the country were flying at half staff.”

“I just want to remind people, we don’t fly our flag at half staff to celebrate an extraordinary accomplishment,” Palmer added. “We were flying at half staff to mourn an extraordinary tragedy. This guy is so out of touch, he doesn’t realize it.”
