Next month, the 2022 Winter Olympics will kick off in Beijing but not without controversy.
Questions about China’s role in the spread of COVID-19 and allegations of human rights atrocities, including genocide, plague the Far East communist superpower on the eve of the games.
During an interview with Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5’s “The Jeff Poor Show,” Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Katie Britt argued against the United States’ participation in the Beijing games.
“No,” she replied. “These are Olympics of genocide. What they are doing to their own people right in front of the world stage, and for us to allow such a celebration, such a monumental event to occur right there in the midst of it, is disgusting. And I understand that we have many people who trained for years to be there, and certainly everyone wants them to have that opportunity.”
“But I think having human rights, standing up against genocide is far more important than anything else we could possibly do,” Britt added.
