AUDIO: ‘The President is wrong to attack Jeff Sessions’ — Alabama Rep. Gary Palmer

Thursday on Birmingham Talk 99.5’s “Matt & Aunie” show, Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) criticized President Donald Trump for his attack on Attorney General Jeff Sessions a day earlier.

A day earlier, Trump had taken to Twitter to protest Sessions’ reliance on Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report rather than pursuing suspected wrongdoing by Justice Department lawyers.

Palmer spoke highly of Horowitz and added it was “wrong” for Trump to attack Sessions.

“I think the president is wrong to attack Jeff Sessions for what he does,” Palmer said. “I’m amazed at Attorney General Sessions’ resiliency in all this. I believe General Sessions has done what he was supposed to do and I think Horowitz is the right guy to do it.”

Palmer said there were “indications” FBI Deputy Director McCabe retired early because of the FBI’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server during her tenure as head of the State Department.

Palmer explained that the report, anticipated for release this spring, will show McCabe’s mishandling.

“There are a lot of people that think this is going to be a shattering, blockbuster exposé,” he said.
