Fmr ALGOP chair Terry Lathan named Mo Brooks U.S. Senate campaign co-chair

Monday morning, U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks’ (R-Huntsville) U.S. Senate campaign announced former Alabama Republican Party chairwoman Terry Lathan has joined the campaign as a co-chairman.

Lathan joins former Limestone County probate judge Stan Mcdonald, who also served as Tommy Tuberville’s successful 2020 campaign chairman, and former Alabama Republican Party chairman Bill Armistead in Brooks’ effort.

Lathan, the longest-serving ALGOP chair since 1985, served from 2015 to 2021.

“As a 44 year grassroots volunteer in the Republican Party for conservative principles, I am honored to serve as Congressman Brooks’s State Co-Chair,” Lathan said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “I have known and worked with Mo for many years and not once did I ever question his stance on our Party’s platform and values. I am mostly drawn to Mo’s candidacy because of his rock solid, proven conservative voting record. He is tested, driven and experienced in pushing for America First issues and stopping legislation that would harm our state and nation. His Ronald Reagan/Donald Trump resumé is second to none. America needs a proven leader now more than ever before- and in this race, that’s Mo Brooks. We will never have to wonder where he stands on protecting our country and the MAGA agenda.”

Brooks also praised the addition in the release.

“Terry Lathan is a HUGE addition to our campaign!” he said. “She has a wealth of knowledge, having helped win elections in every corner of our state. She has worked closely with President Trump and his team, especially while she oversaw the defeat of Doug Jones. President Trump had great faith in Terry, and I do as well. She will be integral to us winning this race and continuing to take our MAGA message to every voter in Alabama!”

As of publication, Brooks is one of three contenders, including Huntsville businessman Mike Durant and former Business Council of Alabama head Katie Britt, vying for the GOP nomination for the November ballot.

Alabama Republican voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot for the preference in this contest on May 24.
