On January 5, voters in Alabama’s eastern neighbor of Georgia will go to the polls to select who they want to represent them in the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C.
Both incumbents Sens. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) and David Perdue (R-Ga.) have formidable Democrat opposition in Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, respectively. Should Democrats win both of those seats next month, it will pave the way for them to have control of the U.S. Senate, in addition to the U.S. House of Representatives and the White House.
Alabama Republican Party chairwoman Terry Lathan is encouraging Alabama Republicans to lend a hand to fellow Georgia Republicans during the month-long stretch to Election Day.
During an interview that aired during Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Jeff Poor Show,” Lathan addressed Republicans frustrated by the last month’s presidential election and how votes were tallied. Fresh off of a visit to the White House a day earlier, Lathan urged listeners not to be dispirited by the presidential election and visit the ALGOP website for ways to help in Georgia.
“They’re going to have their hands full, and we’re going to fight them every step of the way,” she said. “But what I would encourage people to do is to get ready to lock and reload, and let’s roll back again and get ready for two years from now because I think we can take over the U.S. House two years from now. And I think Donald Trump is going to help. So, the frustration level is through the roof right now. Everyone is doing on our end everything we can possibly do. The national news media is doing everything they can do to stop us, and the liberals around the country are doing everything.”
“So, you know, honestly, who wants to go to war for your country?” Lathan continued. “It’s like a civil war right now, and I hope the history books show that we all, frustrated and not, had to get back up, get on the horse and ride back out there, and tell our families and children and our grandchildren that somehow, someway we all helped save this nation by helping save those two U.S. Senate seats in Georgia. We do not want to see what’s on the other side of that door.”
