The race for the Republican nomination for Alabama’s upcoming U.S. Senate race got a little more crowded on Thursday morning.

Jessica Taylor, a 2020 candidate for Alabama’s second congressional district, announced her intentions to run for Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat up in 2022.

Taylor announced her intentions in a video she had posted on social media.

Taylor ran for Congress in 2020 in Alabama’s second congressional district after then-U.S. Rep. Martha Roby (R-Montgomery) announced her decision not to run for reelection. She finished third but came within 603 votes of the eventual nominee and winner of the 2020 general election, U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), in the Republican primary.

She joins U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville), former Business Council of Alabama president Katie Boyd Britt and former U.S. ambassador to Slovenia Lynda Blanchard in the field of Republican hopefuls.
