Tournament helps to drive out breast cancer

The 28th Drive-Out Breast Cancer Golf Tournament, hosted at the Old Overton Club in Vestavia Hills, was a major success in raising funds for breast cancer research within the Yellowhammer State. Alabama ACT scores lowest in years

It's official. The Yellowhammer State, in 2023, according to the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama,experienced the lowest ACT test scores in the state since 2015. Many educators blame the COVID pandemic, a time when schools were closed throughout the country, for the unfortunate statistic.

In 2005, a young girl from Mountain Brook, Alabama disappeared on a high school graduation trip to Aruba making headlines internationally. Natalee Holloway missed her flight back home to Birmingham on May 30, 2005 and has never been seen or heard from since. After her disappearance, a massive search ensued but nothing was ever found. Eventually, Holloway was declared legally dead in 2012.
