Study: Alabama ranks No. 1 for cybercrime losses

In unfortunate news for the state of Alabama, a new study has been published that identifies it as the number one state in the country for losses experienced due to cyber crime. It is estimated that over the past year those who have been scammed in the state have lost on average as much as $50,670 per victim.

AmFirst annual campaign raises $150K for non-profits

America’s First Federal Credit Union has announced that its annual Community First campaign fundraiser drew in a total of $150,000 this year. The money collected will go towards four non-profit organizations from throughout the state who each received $37,500 thanks to the funds raised during the event.

Thanks to a new initiative created by the HudsonAlpha Institute of Biotechnology, cancer screening has become more available throughout the state recently. In fact, since the Information is Power initiative began, 6,200 Alabamians have been screened and over 200 of those individuals were identified as having an increased risk of cancer.
