The University of Alabama at Birmingham has announced that one of its most generous donors has once again made a multi million dollar contribution to the school. Dr. Marnix E. Heersink of Dothan has reportedly already given $95 million to the university that named UAB's Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine, Marnix E. The University of Alabama and Shelton State Community College have both been selected to take part in the Battery Workforce Challenge, a competition with a dozen colleges working with their vocational partners to see which can school can best design, build, test, and integrate an advanced EV battery into a soon to be produced electric vehicle.

The University of Alabama first began construction on its new multi-million dollar Catherine and Pettus Randall Welcome Center last February. As of yesterday, the school released an update and some photos of what students and visitors can expect at the new state of the art welcome center.
