In a hilarious piece at Alabama Political Reporter entitled, “Walt Maddox has lost his mind,” Alabama’s saddest fake-mad columnist Josh Moon promotes the idea that Democratic gubernatorial nominee Walt Maddox is out there telling the truth to a “bunch of hillbillies” in Alabama.
An excerpt from Moon’s column:
That’s the only explanation I have for what the man’s doing — going around the state and trying to engage voters on the issues. Holding press conferences talking about health care and offering plans for increasing Medicaid coverage.
The guy’s got an infrastructure plan. He’s got an education plan.
He’s got details and costs and information on how we can do it all and actually pay for it.
And this nonsense is what he believes will get him elected governor.
See? Nutty as a fruitcake, that Walt Maddox.
It’s so crazy, it just might work — but it won’t.
Let’s ignore that Moon claims that random Alabamians sought out the outspoken liberal to tell them how racist they are.
Another excerpt:
I screamed and screamed and screamed some more over Medicaid expansion under Obamacare. I pointed out the benefits and the zero costs. And I pointed out the meticulous studies done that showed massive increases in jobs, revenue and health services if that expansion occurred.
You know what people cared about?
That it was named after the black president.
Beyond that obviously fake story, the crux of Moon’s piece is that Maddox is breaking the mold of Alabama politicians. By telling the people of Alabama what a great plan the expansion of Medicaid is, he is also apparently telling them how he has devised to pay for his magical plan.
The problem, of course, is that this completely untrue.
Up until last week, Maddox had no idea how much Alabama was spending on Medicaid.
Two weeks ago, to his credit, he switched from Medicaid being “free money” to it costing $150-200 million dollars.
When asked how to pay for it, Maddox could barely name programs that would pay for a quarter of his proposal.
Maddox doesn’t have a plan. He doesn’t have a chance. And every day, it becomes clear that Maddox doesn’t have a clue.
