Earlier today, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) declared Joe Biden as the president-elect on the floor of the U.S. Senate.
The media then immediately attacked him for not doing it soon enough because — after all — they are pathetic frauds.
Keep in mind that this whole thing is still not over.
U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) is still planning on launching a challenge of some electors and the entire election from the House of Representatives on January 6, 2021.
As of today, he still does not have the commitment of a single U.S. Senator, which he will need to move his challenge forward.
Names like Sens. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) have been bantered about as potential allies of Mo Brooks, but no one has fully committed.
There is another name that has been largely missing from this conversation: Tommy Tuberville.
Senator-elect Tommy Tuberville is from Alabama, same as Brooks, and he ran his campaign on the premise that he would be a reliable supporter and defender of President Donald Trump.
Well, Trump could use some support and defense right now.
Tuberville campaign chairman Stan McDonald appeared on Huntsville radio’s WVNN to talk about the potential challenge to the electors.
He believes that Tuberville might be the right person to help Brooks challenge the electors.
“I think that probably he and Ted Cruz are probably the two best candidates to do this,” McDonald said on “The Dale Jackson Show.”
But even McDonald doesn’t know if Tuberville is ready to do so.
“I don’t know yet if or when he’ll do it,” he advised. “I do know that he’s very seriously considering it.”
My takeaway:
Tuberville will be sworn in by January 6, and it is very possible that this could be his first big move as a U.S. Senator.
If Tuberville does support Brooks’ challenge, he will accumulate a bunch of new enemies in the mainstream news media — not that they won’t try to destroy him at some point — and become a national hero to Trump supporters.
The idea that the House and Senate will vote to overturn the election is still an insurmountable longshot in reality.
The Republicans in the Senate have already lost Susan Collins (R-ME) and Mitt Romney (R-UT). The House is still controlled by the Democrats.
Tuberville should do what he thinks is best for the country, and he could be the dark horse no one is thinking about right now when it comes to finally get to the end of the 2020 presidential election.
