(State of Alabama)

MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Legislature on Tuesday will convene for the 26th day of its 2021 regular session.

The House will convene at 1:00 p.m., while the Senate gavels in at 2:00 p.m.

The House’s floor agenda is expected to revolve around the Education Trust Fund budget package that was advanced from Ways and Means Education last Thursday. This is set to be the largest education budget in state history for the third consecutive year.

Ahead of both chambers convening, committee meetings will be held.

This includes Senate Finance and Taxation General Fund taking up the general fund budget package at its 10:00 a.m. meeting.

Another meeting to especially watch will be House Public Safety and Homeland Security considering an agenda that includes Sen. Gerald Allen’s (R-Tuscaloosa) SB 358 to create the Alabama Second Amendment Preservation Act. Rep. Wes Allen (R-Troy) is carrying the bill in the House.
