Wesley Britt, husband to U.S. Sen.-elect Katie Britt (R-Montgomery), has joined the  governmental affairs and legislative services firm of Fine, Geddie & Associates.

A former All-American offensive lineman for the University of Alabama, Britt went on to play in the NFL for the New England Patriots. While playing under head coach Bill Belichick, Britt helped lead the Patriots to the Super Bowl in 2007.

At the Capstone, Britt earned an undergraduate degree in business administration and an MBA. The Cullman native studied international business abroad and was a fellow at the Blackburn Institute.

“I am thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to join a top-notch team at Fine Geddie,” Britt said, according to Alabama Daily News. “Joe Fine and Bob Geddie are first-ballot hall of famers, and I can’t wait to work with everyone at the firm to serve our clients and strengthen our great state.”

Britt has worked in numerous roles for Alabama Power, including economic and community development, governmental relations, corporate affairs and applied innovation. After serving as director of applied innovations, he left the state’s largest electric utility to volunteer on his wife’s U.S. Senate campaign.

Fine and Geddie, principals of the firm, praised Britt’s professional background and business expertise.

“Wesley shares our love of the state of Alabama, and we look forward to having him as a member of our team,” said the firm’s founding partners. “Wesley’s intricate knowledge of Alabama’s economic development landscape, extensive experience in Montgomery’s governmental affairs arena, deep roots in communities across the state, proven track record of meaningful relationship building, and his true heart for service will enhance our firm’s mission and record of success.”

The firm said Britt will not partake in any federal lobbying activity.

Residents of Montgomery, Wesley and Katie Britt have two children.
