Watch: Ty Simpson etched in Alabama history at A-Day captain’s ceremony

Every April, the Alabama Crimson Tide hosts its annual spring game where fans get into Bryant-Denny Stadium for free and get their first look at what the upcoming edition of the team looks like in a scrimmage.

One of the most special parts of the day in Tuscaloosa happens outside of the stadium, and often with players who are not going to be on the team next year — the annual captain’s ceremony next to the iconic Denny Chimes.

Captains from the year prior have their cleat and handprints cemented in the concrete to remain for all time, a tradition as iconic as Alabama football itself.

Former quarterback Ty Simpson — who is preparing for the NFL Draft in two weeks — received that honor this weekend and looked absolutely thrilled:

Joining Simpson was center Parker Brailsford, defensive lineman Tim Keenan, and linebacker Deontae Lawson, all of whom played a critical role for the last two seasons under Kalen DeBoer.

While they may not be on the field next season for the Crimson Tide, all four will very much be in the heart of Alabama history, and the captain’s ceremony cements that quite literally.
