The Auburn University Men’s Golf team is headed to a national championship match for the first time in program history. The Tigers will tee off on Wednesday evening at 5:00 P.M. CST at Omni La Costa North Course in Carlsbad, California.

Auburn had an eventful Tuesday afternoon with quarterfinal and semifinal match victories over Virginia and Ohio State to qualify for the title match. They’ll face the Florida State Seminoles, also making their first championship match appearance.

Auburn was led by its sensational freshman Jackson Koivun, with the Hogan and Haskins award winner making the winning putt in both matches including on the 21st hole of his semifinal match.

“We’re playing for so much here,” Koivun said. “I didn’t want to let my team, my school, my coaches down.”

The Tigers’ head coach weighed in as well on what the team accomplished and what they still have to do.

“We’ve had a great year but it’s unfinished,” head coach Nick Clinard said. “The job’s not finished. We are going up against a great Florida State team. It’s going to be an all-out battle tomorrow.”

Fans can tune into the title match on the Golf Channel Wednesday evening.
