Democratic gubernatorial nominee and Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox campaigned alongside former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman in Selma on Tuesday.

Siegelman is a convicted felon who was released from federal prison last year after serving approximately six years. He reportedly is still unable vote in the state.

According to the Selma Times-Journal, after Maddox gave his speech on Tuesday, he shook hands with Siegelman, Alabama’s last Democratic governor. Siegelman then gave a speech of his own.

“Vote Walt Maddox as the next governor of Alabama,” the convicted felon, and Alabama Democratic icon, said.

Siegelman also stumped for his son Joseph, who is running to be Alabama’s attorney general – the state’s top law enforcement officer.

One Maddox supporter took to Facebook to say, “So good to see our next governor with one of the best.”
