Vietnam veterans hold reunion at U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence in Alabama

Veterans who served with Battery C, 4th Battalion, 77th Aerial Rocket Artillery, 101st Airborne Division at Camp Evans in Vietnam recently reunited for a special visit to the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) at Fort Novosel, Alabama.

The reunion, filled with nostalgia and camaraderie, offered these brave soldiers and their families the chance to reconnect and reflect on shared experiences. During the visit, the veterans received a comprehensive branch update from Maj. Gen. Michael C. McCurry, commander of USAACE and Fort Novosel.

McCurry highlighted the advancements and current initiatives within the Army Aviation branch, offering the veterans a glimpse into how their legacy continues to influence modern military operations.

The group also met Chief Warrant Officer 5 Michael A. Corsaro and Command Sgt. Maj. Kirk R. Coley. Corsaro and Coley expressed their gratitude and respect for the veterans’ service, emphasizing the enduring impact of their contributions to Army Aviation. The interaction provided a meaningful exchange of experiences and insights between past and present generations of Army aviators.

The event was not only a walk down memory lane but also a testament to the lasting bonds formed in service. The veterans and their families shared stories, reminisced about their time at Camp Evans and marveled at the advancements in aviation technology and training. The day was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made and the brotherhood that transcends time.
