(Video) Bentley slams Griffith for being an untrustworthy party-switcher

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, who has withstood a barrage of negative ads from his Democratic opponent Parker Griffith, has decided to go on the offensive, painting Griffith as an untrustworthy party-switcher with no core beliefs.

Griffith was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democrat in 2008, then switched parties to run in the GOP primary against Mo Brooks a year later and lost. He has now switched back to the Democratic party to challenge Bentley in this year’s General Election Nov. 4.

“Parker Griffith first ran for Congress as a Democrat, supporting President Obama’s liberal agenda. Then, to keep his seat Griffith ran as a Republican,” the ad’s narrator said.

“For me to be true to my core beliefs, I must align myself with the Republican party,” Griffith is shown saying during a 2009 press conference.

“If Parker Griffith doesn’t know who he is or what he stands for, how can we trust him to lead Alabama?” The narrator concludes.

The 30-second ad can be viewed below. What do you think? Is it effective?
