UA, Mountain Brook alum appointed as Director of the Office of Public Liaison, deputy assistant to President Trump

Jim Goyer, a Birmingham native and alumnus of both Mountain Brook High School and the University of Alabama will return to the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Public Liaison.

Goyer served President Donald Trump’s first Administration as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Office of Public Liaison. Prior to that, Goyer served as Political Coordinator at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).

Goyer is joining from Goldman Sachs, where he served as an Associate of Asset and Wealth Management.

The White House Office of Public Liaison, a title now solidified under the second Trump Administration, was previously named the Office of Public Engagement under the Obama and Biden Administrations, but has a history dating back to President Gerald Ford’s Administration in 1974.

The office serves as the primary channel for communication and outreach between the White House, various interest groups, and the public.

Goyer, returning to now lead the office, graduated from the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the Honors College, with a B.A. in Political Science and Foreign Policy before attending the prestigious Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he received his Masters in Business Administration.
