Tuberville names Marine Veteran Curt Griffith of Florence as June ‘Veteran of the Month’

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville has named Sergeant Curt Griffith of Florence, Alabama, as the June “Veteran of the Month” in recognition of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps and continued leadership in his local community.

In a video released by the senator’s office, Tuberville praised Griffith’s dedication, resilience, and commitment to helping others, especially children in need across Northeast Alabama. He also shared excerpts from the announcement on “X,” formerly known as Twitter.

“Our veterans have a unique way of turning hardship into opportunities. No one displays that better than Sergeant Curt Griffith of Florence, Alabama,” said Tuberville.

Griffith, who faced adversity early in life after losing his father at age six, found purpose and community in the Marine Corps. Today, he works to provide that same sense of belonging to youth in the Shoals area.

“Curt also put his military skills to use—particularly getting involved with the local Marine Corps League and Toys for Tots charity,” Tuberville said. “Thanks to Curt’s leadership, the program has expanded to five counties in Northeast Alabama: Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Winston, and Marion.”

Through Griffith’s efforts, Toys for Tots has significantly expanded its reach, serving nearly 2,000 children annually, up from just 200 a few years ago. The program supports families, especially during Easter and Christmas holidays.

“He works around the clock each year, to help remind children they are not alone,” Tuberville added. “Curt is a great example of what strong leadership and a will to serve those in need can do. It’s my honor to recognize Curt Griffith as the ‘June Veteran of the Month.’”

Each month, Tuberville honors a veteran from Alabama who demonstrates exceptional service both in and out of uniform. Community members are encouraged to nominate deserving veterans by contacting the senator’s office at press_office@tuberville.senate.gov.
