Ahead of Monday night’s national championship matchup between the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State University Buckeyes, Congressmen Robert Aderholt (AL-04) and Troy Balderson (R-OH) have announced a traditional wager of home state delicacies on the result of the big game.

Aderholt is wagering a Bama In a Box gift basket that includes products such as Yellowhammer State-made Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q Sauce, Golden Eagle Popcorn and Alabama grits. Meanwhile, Balderson is wagering a basket of Ohio-made chocolate buckeyes and Cheryl’s Cookies.

“Alabama plays in the National Championship game so much, it’s almost like a holiday here in our state,“ said Aderholt in a statement. His district covers parts of Tuscaloosa.

“And what’s a holiday without some sweet treats? I’m sure those Ohio Buckeyes will fit the bill just perfectly,” Aderholt continued. “But all kidding aside, I want to thank Congressman Balderson and his staff for putting together this friendly wager. Good luck to both teams, but of course Roll Tide!”

“In Ohio, we’re all Buckeyes, so it would be incredible if we took home the trophy tonight for the first time in six years,” commented Balderson. “I thank my colleague, Congressman Aderholt, for joining me in some lighthearted inter-state rivalry, and I can’t wait to enjoy some Alabama barbecue and grits. In all seriousness, I wish both teams the best of luck, and go Bucks!”
