The Alabama RINO PAC, the political action committee supporting Katie Britt for U.S. Senate, has released a new radio advertisement claiming that U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) wanted to raise property taxes, income taxes and sales taxes.
The 60-second spot says, “Mo’s voted to to raise income taxes. In Congress, Mo even voted against the Bush tax cuts twice.”
It then adds, “Mo Brooks? More like Mo taxes.”
The PAC also put out a video advertisement making similar claims.

Brooks denied the accusations during a Monday appearance on WVNN’s “The Dale Jackson Show.”
The congressman explained his votes against the bill being talked about in the advertisement.
“I voted against it because it was a tax increase,” Brooks said, “on tens of millions of citizens of the United States of America. I was for the extension of the Bush tax cuts, but what the Democrats did under Barack Obama is they put before us a bill that would extend the tax cuts for a few, but raise the taxes on the tens of millions of others that the Democrats did not like.”
Brooks also pointed out that he wasn’t the only Republican in Alabama to vote against the bill.
“All six Republicans from Alabama,” he continued, “all voted against it with me. The only one who voted for it is Terri Sewell.”
He then said the Britt team was “dishonest” and that the claims were “all absolutely categorically false, as evidenced by every anti-tax group, conservative group, having supported my candidacy in the race.”
“None are supporting Katie Britt,” he added.
Brooks argued that Britt was the one in the race with a history of raising taxes.
“Katie Britt has publicly supported more tax increases than any other Republican in the history of Alabama,” he asserted.
The Brooks campaign also reinforced the claims about Britt on Twitter, saying, “Imagine what tax increases she’d propose in the Senate!”
