Two Men Drown Off Alabama Coast Trying to Save Child

According to the Associated Press, two men have drowned off of the Alabama Gulf Coast while trying to save a child on Monday. Authorities say the child was caught in rough surf from the remnants of Hurricane Nate.

Captain Stephen Arnold of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office says that the Coast Guard has found the body of 47-year-old Steven Wahler of Owensboro, Kentucky. Crews are still looking for 21-year-old Bradley Murphy of Elberta, Alabama.

Authorities say the men entered the water Monday afternoon to attempt to help a 12-year-old boy who was caught in the waves. The boy made it out safe. Authorities are unaware of any connection between the boy and the two men.
