Two University of Alabama men’s basketball players on Thursday were named to preseason All-SEC teams.

The Southeastern Conference in a release unveiled its 17th annual coaches preseason All-SEC first and second teams, tipping off the 2020-21 season.

Bama, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina and Tennessee each had multiple selections, while Auburn did not have a player named to either team.

The Crimson Tide’s John Petty, Jr., was selected to the first team. Petty, who was named a two-time Alabama Mr. Basketball while playing his high school ball in Huntsville, is a senior guard who was named second-team All-SEC this past season.

Additionally, Alabama’s Herb Jones garnered second-team preseason All-SEC honors. Jones, also a senior, is a versatile forward from Greensboro. He made the SEC All-Defensive Team this past season.

SEC conference play is set to begin December 29. The 2021 SEC Tournament is scheduled for March 10-14 in Nashville, TN.
