Tuscaloosa’s first contemporary Christian music station now on the air

Tuscaloosa’s 101.7 The River is now live and ready for listeners. It is the city’s first contemporary Christian music station.

According to 95.3 The Bear, the station is a safe alternative for families who want great music without the additional language and themes most parents wish to avoid in the school car line.

101.7 The River is the dream of Townsquare Media’s Tuscaloosa Director of Content, DC. DC referred to developing the station as a “labor of love.” He said he had wanted a station like this for years. Its creation came about when he recommended the idea to corporate when they were looking to replace two underperforming brands in their portfolio.

According to the largest music streaming apps, Christian music has been one of the hottest genres in music over the last few years. Artists like Brandon Lake, Phil Wickham, Elevation Worship, Crowder, for King & Country, and many more are drawing fans and artists from other musical genres.

Now, contemporary Christian music fans in Tuscaloosa can enjoy the music even while they are on the go.
