Mayor Walt Maddox and the City of Tuscaloosa are urging residents to join together at 3:00 p.m. on Monday to make sure their support for those fighting COVID-19 is heard.
Maddox is calling on everyone who lives in the city to use their car horns, musical instruments or even just their voice as part of a collective thank you for every person putting themselves at risk to protect others and keep society functioning.
The Tuscaloosa News quoted Maddox as saying, “The sacrifice that these heroes are making to care for our sick and elderly, feed our children, respond to crises, and keep our city running in the midst of these uncharted waters cannot be understated.”
The Tuscaloosa mayor is billing the event as “Make Some Noise for Tuscaloosa Heroes.”
Similar cheer sessions will be held on Monday and Friday afternoons through April 17.
Institutions such as churches with access to bell towers and the like are encouraged to join in the “Noise” as well.
Maddox wants his city to make its gratitude for those fighting COVID-19 “loud and clear.”
