Tuberville to Kaine on lifting military holds: ‘Good luck’

With just two words, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville got his point across for the likelihood of Republicans convincing him to lift the holds he has placed on military promotions over an abortion policy.

According to Newsmax, U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), former 2016 running mate of Hillary Clinton, told reporters last week that he believes the holds will come to an end soon.

“I think there’s going to be a point where the Republicans will not enable this destructive behavior,” said Kaine. “They’ll eventually see in the mirror that this doesn’t look good, and they will figure out a way to make this right.”

Tuberville disagreed with a succinct post on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend: “Good luck.”

Kaine also said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell should strip Tuberville of his committee assignments if he doesn’t lift the holds.

Tuberville (R-Auburn) has placed a hold on Pentagon general and flag officer promotions due to the Department of Defense’s decision to pay for abortion-related expenses for servicemembers with taxpayer dollars.
