Tuberville on VP Harris border visit: ‘Now she thinks she can erase her terrible record with a photo-op’

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’ trip to the southern border Friday as too little too late, and the first one in over three years, amid an illegal immigration and border security crisis.

“For 3 1/2 years, [Kamala Harris] has served as border czar while 10 MILLION+ illegals have invaded our country,” Tuberville (R-Auburn) posted. “Now she thinks she can erase her terrible record with a photo-op. She must think the American people are stupid.”

Tuberville also discussed the issue recently on Fox Business.

“This border has almost brought this country down, the way they’ve handled it.” Tuberville said. “And she’s been in charge of it and she won’t take any credit for it. She says we’re going to get this bipartisan bill passed that the Senate voted it down.”

Harris has promised to sign the “bipartisan” border bill that was blocked by several Republican Senators earlier this year.

“He killed a bill that would have actually been a solution, because he wants to run on a problem, instead of fixing a problem,” she told MSNBC in an interview this week.

Tuberville said he thinks that legislation would have worsened the border crisis.

“That bipartisan bill was a disaster for the American people and the border,” he argued. “We do not need a bill that’s going to allows 5,000 people a day to come in. They’re trying to put lipstick on this pig. She does not know what she’s doing. She doesn’t know how to do it. She’s not qualified to do it. And we dang sure don’t need anybody that’s been in there for four years that’s got us in all this trouble.”
