Some of Alabama’s political leaders reacted to the announcement from MSNBC Monday that it is changing the name of it’s network.

MSNBC will now be branded as My Source News Opinion World, or MS NOW for short. This is part of a planned corporate spinoff from Comcast.

Rebecca Kutler, MSNBC’s president, said in a memo to employees on Monday that the name refers to their mission to provide “breaking news and best-in-class opinion journalism.”

The cable news network is known for its left-wing progressive hosts like Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell.

“MSinformation is more accurate,” U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who is also a candidate for Governor, said on X Monday, mocking the network.

Microsoft and NBC created MSNBC as part of a joint cable and online venture. Executives had considered changing the name over the years after NBC’s severed its relationship with Microsoft, but the the change never occurred.

Adam Miller, the chief operating officer at NBCUniversal said in a memo to employees that this was about making sure viewers understand that NBC News is different from MSNBC, even though both cover things happening in the news.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, who is also a candidate for U.S. Senate, reacted to the news as well.
