U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) introduced Randy Jones of Guntersville as Alabama’s nominee to serve on the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors during a Senate confirmation hearing this week.

The hearing was held before the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

Congress created TVA in 1933, establishing a nine-member board nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate.

Members serve five-year terms. At present, the board has three members, but at least five are required for a quorum—underscoring the urgency of confirming pending nominees.

“Madam Chair and Ranking Member, it’s my honor to introduce my good friend and fellow Alabamian, Mr. Randy Jones of Guntersville, Alabama, to represent the state of Alabama on the one seat that we have on the TVA board,” Tuberville said.

“Randy is a proud business owner and a civic servant of North Alabama. Over 45 years, he’s started his own insurance agency and has grown it substantially over the years, making him a big player in the state of Alabama.”

Tuberville highlighted Jones’ long record of civic involvement, including 17 years on the Guntersville Electric Board, where he oversaw a $12.8 million expansion while keeping debt low.

Jones has also served on the Business Council and Renewal Commission of Alabama and on Jacksonville State University’s Board of Directors, where he played a role in infrastructure and economic development efforts statewide.

“I am grateful for the hard work he’s done so far in Alabama and look forward to working with him on the TVA Board,” Tuberville added. The senator then thanked Jones for being there.

Tuberville, who represents Alabama in the U.S. Senate, serves on the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP and Aging Committees.
