This week, U.S. Senators Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and Katie Britt (R-AL) introduced a resolution to celebrate the University of South Alabama’s 60th anniversary.
The University of South Alabama was founded on May 3, 1963, and has since awarded over 90,000 degrees. In addition to its educational programs, the University boasts 17 Division I men’s and women’s athletic programs. The resolution recognizes the University of South Alabama for its educational contributions and all the things that make it the ‘‘Flagship of the Gulf Coast’’.
“From its first class of 276 students, the University of South Alabama has grown to host more than 13,500 students annually who participate in over 115 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs through its 10 colleges and schools,” the resolution reads. “The University of South Alabama has distinguished itself by producing alumni who have excelled in various sectors, including research, medicine, business, education, engineering, the sciences, the arts, and athletics, among others. […] [We commend] the University of South Alabama on the occasion of its 60th anniversary and its years of service to the State of Alabama and the United States.”
