Tuberville advisor named to Trump’s economic policy team

Emory Cox, a native of St. Clair County and senior economic advisor to U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has been named as special assistant to the president for international economic relations.

“I am pleased to announce the brilliant team who will serve on the White House National Economic Council (NEC) under Kevin Hassett, one of the world’s most respected economists,” President-Elect Trump said in a statement.

“We will unleash a renaissance in American prosperity and innovation by putting our Nation’s Citizens, Families, and Businesses first,” he said.

Cox has served as a point person for Sen. Tuberville’s economic policy portfolio spanning from D.C. to Alabama since 2021.

He worked in the White House during the first Trump Administration as an intern and later an associate director for the National Economic Council. Prior to that, Cox interned for former U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions and his hometown congressman, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks).

U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery), U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville), and State Sen. Lance Bell (R-Pell City) issued their congratulations and pride for Cox’s return to the White House.
