Legislation authored by U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer that will undo the Biden administration’s eleventh-hour ban on tankless natural gas water heaters has been signed into law by President Donald Trump.

The Congressman joined the President for a signing ceremony in the Oval Office late last week.

“I am honored to witness President Trump sign my commonsense legislation into law,” said Palmer (R-Hoover). “This is a reversal of the previous administration’s attempt to remove the American people’s choice in appliances, in this case, water heaters. I thank President Trump for signing this bill, and I look forward to seeing how we can continue to work on behalf of the American people in the future.”

Prior to Palmer’s legislation being signed, the lawmaker appeared on Fox News to discuss the Biden Administration’s attempted ban.

“It’s another example of government overreach under the Biden administration on their way out the door,” Palmer said. “They care nothing about consumers. This is just one of many examples of that. The gas stove tops, the dishwashers, and this. The idea that this is somehow going to save money over the long term when the front-end cost that people have to pay out of the pocket immediately for one of these water heaters that complies with the rule is absurd.”

Palmer told the host that Republicans in the House will continue advocating for middle-class families across the country, despite obstacles put in place by the former President and congressional Democrats.

“So we’re doing what we can to look out for the average American family, the middle-income type family that for the last four years has struggled to make ends meet. The Biden Administration once again demonstrated its total lack of concern for average Americans and what they’re having to deal with.”

Palmer’s legislation passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 221-198–2 in February.

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas sponsored identical legislation in the upper chamber, which passed in early April.
