For the second time in program history, the team representing Alabama, Troy Post 70, has claimed victory in the American Legion World Series (ALWS) national championship.

The ALWS is a collection of teams from all 50 states with players ages 13-19 participating in what the league describes as one of the “most successful and tradition-rich amateur athletic leagues.”

The Troy Post 70 team also claimed a national championship in 2022, this year being their second in four years with the victory over the Midland, Michigan team. The title comes in a season in which the team had an incredible 34-6 record with a team batting average better than .300 and a team ERA of less than 2.00.

It is also their 8th consecutive state title.

U.S. Senator Katie Britt sent out a message of congratulations to the team on the incredible accomplishment. “Congratulations to Troy’s Post 70 Baseball on your second [ALWS] win in just three years. What an incredible accomplishment—Alabama is proud of our American Legion World Series Champions,” Britt wrote.
