Trail Life USA launches as Christian alternative to Boy Scouts

(Above: Now This News covers the launch of Trail Life USA)

A group of former Boy Scout leaders upset with the organization’s decision to allow openly gay members has formed an alternative organization of their own.

Trail Life USA is a self-described Christian organization that says they are seeking to produce “godly and responsible husbands, fathers and citizens.”

The Boys Scouts of America decided back in May to change their policy with regard to openly gay scouts. As a result, many churches and faith-based organizations that had previously sponsored Scout chapters decided to pull their support.

Groups on the other end of the spectrum protested the BSA’s decision to continue banning openly gay Scout leaders.

Trail Life USA says they will not try to ban gay scouts, as long as they are not open about their sexual orientation and do not promote homosexual behavior.

What do you think? Will Trail Life USA be successful? Were the Boy Scouts right to allow openly gay scouts? Should they also allow openly gay scout leaders?
