U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is showing no signs of backing down from his comments about the threats of Radical Islamism, despite some groups labeling him as “Anti-Muslim” and a “bigot.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which labels itself as the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, added Tuberville to its list of “anti-Muslim extremists in the United States” saying it was “in the wake of his increasingly hateful and dangerous attacks on Alabama Muslims, including his recent targeting of Alabama Muslim K-12 school children.”

The organization recently took issue with the senator’s comments against the Islamic Academy of Alabama wanting to relocate a new school to a busy area in Hoover. The academy has since withdrawn its application.

Tuberville, who is also a candidate for Alabama Governor in 2026, recently introduced to root out the evils of Sharia Law from this country, the No Sharia Act and the Preserving a Sharia Free America Act, which didn’t make CAIR happy.

“Senator Tuberville appears to have looked at footage of George Wallace standing in a schoolhouse door to keep Black students out and decided that was a model worth reviving—this time against Muslims,” CAIR Research and Advocacy Director Corey Saylor said. “His rhetoric belongs to the same shameful chapter of American history, and it will be taught that way.”

Tuberville responded to the designation on X, saying he will never back down on this issue.

“Badge of honor,” Tuberville said. “I will NEVER stop fighting for AMERICANS and our Constitutional values.”

While CAIR claims to be civil rights group, states like Texas and Florida have declared them a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

“The Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR have long made their goals clear: to forcibly impose Sharia law and establish Islam’s ‘mastership of the world,’” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

“The actions taken by the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR to support terrorism across the globe and subvert our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment are unacceptable. Today, I designated the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations. These radical extremists are not welcome in our state and are now prohibited from acquiring any real property interest in Texas.”
