In a show of support for President Donald Trump and his efforts to end the Los Angeles riots,  Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has filed an amicus brief backing the commander-in-chief’s decision to deploy the National Guard to the city. The decision to dispatch the military came after illegal immigrants and their supporters overwhelmed local law enforcement across LA.

“We are unwavering defenders of the constitutional right to peaceful protest, a cornerstone of American democracy,” said Marshall. “But let us be clear: arson, assault, and anarchy are not protected forms of expression; they are violent crimes. In a moment when California’s leadership bowed to violent open border activists and ordered law enforcement to stand down, President Trump acted decisively and constitutionally by deploying the National Guard to restore order and protect lives.”

The Attorney General credited Trump for supporting the rule of law despite other officials having already ‘surrendered to the chaos.’

“We will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the brave men and women of law enforcement, who hold the line between civilization and disorder. Thank you, President Trump, for refusing to let lawlessness prevail and for backing those who protect our communities every day.”

The amicus brief recounts the days-long chaos and violence caused by those rioting, including “buildings being surrounded and defaced, cars being set ablaze, and LAPD officers pleading for assistance.”

The brief argues that President Trump acted within his constitutional and statutory authority under Title 10 of the United States Code when he called National Guard troops into federal service to protect federal agents, property, and the rule of law, particularly when state and local officials in California allegedly failed to act while rioters overran portions of Los Angeles and obstructed federal immigration enforcement efforts.

Alabama was joined in the 19-state brief by Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, the Territory of Guam, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.

As raids targeting illegal immigrants continue across the country, a growing problem for law enforcement is beginning to take shape. While many of the operations targeting illegals for deportation have been a success others have failed after their details were reportedly leaked to the public.

In one such case, agents with Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement launched a major operation in the area of Aurora, Colorado attempting to apprehend members of the violent Venezuelan street gang, Tren de Aragua. When authorities arrived at several apartment complexes and buildings to make arrests they were found mostly empty with the gang members having already fled.

The botched raid has drawn the ire of border czar Tom Homan who has vowed to prosecute anyone found to have divulged sensitive information regarding an operation.

In a call with reporters Wednesday, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville said that he has been in contact with Homan about the issue and believes that certain news outlets have played a role in creating the problem.

“It’s a shame that our media across the country would rather protect criminals than cover the stories of law-abiding Americans who’ve been terrorized by all these illegal immigrants moving into their neighborhoods,” Tuberville (R-Auburn) said. “So I can condemn any efforts on leaking anything.”

He revealed that he will be speaking today with Holman about efforts to curtail the problem.

“Tom Homan was in my office. He’ll be there again today, We’re talking about some things about illegal immigration where we’re trying to help them. President Trump’s deportation efforts are very popular across party lines. This is not Democrat and Republican. This is American. We have to get control of our country again and control of our streets and our neighborhoods. Everyone has heard stories of innocent people like Laken Riley, who lost her life and was brutally beaten by an illegal.”

The Senator emphasized that the leaks will be heavily investigated and that the Federal Bureau of Investigations along with the Department of Justice will help punish those responsible.

“Any attempt to deter efforts to deport dangerous criminals should, should be put to an end immediately,” Tuberville said. “The media needs to be held accountable for this. You’re not being excused from any kind of arrest because I’m telling you, the FBI will be looking into this. It’s going to be very, very interesting how the next few days and weeks and months go in terms of all these leaks all over the country. It’s not just in a few places. All over the country illegals are receiving warnings that ICE is coming.”

A group of churchgoers in Birmingham has declared that it is ready to take in illegal immigrants in response to the raids that have taken place in Mississippi at food processing facilities.

Reverend Paul Ecknes-Tucker, pastor of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, said raids were a “pivotal moment” for the group and they are all about “helping with kids, giving them a safe place to be.”
