William Shakespeare once wrote that “past is prologue,” and that is especially true in Alabama politics, where events, conflicts, and situations that first happened decades ago are repeated again and again.
As a lifelong Republican, I have served as state vice chairman of the College Republicans, a member of the executive committee for almost 30 years, and one of the few former members of the legislature who served when the GOP was in the superminority and when it held a supermajority.
First elected to the Alabama’s House of Representatives in 2002, I was one of only a handful of Republicans in the body that was dominated by a Democrat supermajority, which afforded me a seat in the back of the chamber, an office located next to the janitor’s closet, and a long list of dreams deferred.
Only eight years later, the Alabama Republican Party’s candidate recruitment efforts, hard work at the grassroots level, and displeasure with the liberal Obama administration would help conservatives capture a supermajority in the legislature.
Suddenly elevated to the Alabama State Senate and a member of the supermajority, I played a role in passing conservative reforms that Republicans once only dreamed about — enacting school choice, expanding ethics laws, codifying pro-life policies into law, and ending the cycle or proration with commonsense budgeting reforms.
Since the 2010 realignment in Alabama politics, our Alabama Legislature ranks as the most conservative in the nation, and other Republican states are looking to us for ideas and examples to follow.
Much of that continuing success belongs to the strong, steady, conservative leadership of Governor Kay Ivey, Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth, State Senate Pro Tem Garlan Gudger, and Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter.
Speaker Ledbetter has reigned over one of the most effective tenures for Republicans in recent memory — passing the strongest pro-life legislation in the nation, cutting roughly $1.5 billion in taxes, including levies on groceries, baby food, and diapers, and ushering in other landmark legislation core to our conservative cause that has strengthened our state.
His leadership style has eliminated the distractions and disfunction that plagued the House in previous quadrenniums and transformed it into one of the most efficient governing bodies anywhere in the country.
Along with that closet office, my long ago perch as low-ranking member of the House superminority allowed me to watch and learn from the mistakes and infighting of the Alabama Democratic Party as it slowly descended into chaos. The Republican Party seems on verge of being the Democratic Party of 1986.
That chaos was caused by the Democrats’ increasing polarization, fracturing, and putting petty party politics above the important work of addressing the needs and priorities of the people of Alabama. The Democrats simply forgot to focus on what secured their supermajority in the first place — their voters, neighbors, church members, and friends.
It’s a lesson — and a forewarning — that Alabama GOP party brass would be wise to study.
Democrats in Alabama ultimately relinquished control on elections in 2010 — and gave up gubernatorial wins before that with the election of Governors Guy Hunt, Fob James, and Bob Riley, but their fate was sealed in the 1980s as fragmenting factions splintered the party into a shadow of its former glory.
Those roles seem to be reversed today as Democrats in the state legislature are once again working together to will themselves out of the political wilderness and are strategically targeting specific districts while some Republicans, for reasons beyond comprehension, have formed what amounts to a circular firing squad.
Republicans must come to our senses before our loss of unity leads to the loss of elections and the loss of the supermajority in the State House.
In Alabama, we are blessed to have leaders like Gov. Ivey, Lt. Gov. Ainsworth, Speaker Ledbetter, and Pro Tem Gudger, who understand the importance of working together to deliver for the people of Alabama.
For the good of our state and the future of the ALGOP, Republicans must stop targeting other Republicans and turn our attention and attacks on the liberal Democrats seeking to recapture what was once theirs.
With more and more new residents moving to Alabama from other states, especially in Huntsville and the northern portion of our state where the federal workforce is exploding, once reliable red legislative districts are turning purple, and elections that conservatives could win with little effort just a few cycles ago are becoming increasingly competitive.
Dividing, dismembering, and destroying our Alabama Republican Party from within simply opens the door for Democrats to snatch away our supermajority and stop our conservative reforms dead in their tracks.
Rather than continuing to ratchet up ALGOP infighting to increasingly serious DEFCON levels and risking all we have gained, perhaps all involved would be wise to follow the words of the greatest Republican, Ronald Reagan, who said, “Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.”
Cam Ward has been a member of the Alabama Executive Committee since 1999 and formerly served as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives and Alabama State Senate. Currently her serves as the Director of the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles.
We all knew that this 2026 election year was going to be a big year in Alabama politics. This year’s biggest race will be for the U.S. Senate Seat of Coach Tuberville.
The key to winning this seat like any open U.S. Senate Seat is having or garnering campaign money. Having your own money is always paramount to winning a coveted senate seat anywhere in America. That is why it is referred to as the “Millionaire’s Club.” Although, in today’s world, it more accurately could be called the “Billionaire’s Club.” Over the course of history, it has seen the names of Kennedy, Rockefeller, Danforth, and Kohler.
Another advantage for rich candidates is that the big Washington special interest lobbyists – big dollar contributors – have an unwritten rule that they do not contribute to primaries in wide-open, non-incumbent, senate races. Instead, they wait for the general election. The problem with this for candidates from totally Republican states like ours is that our GOP primary is our election. Therefore, a well-heeled candidate with their own money is in the catbird’s seat.
The two apparent front runners for our open U.S. Senate Seat are Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and First District Congressman Barry Moore. A third candidate is Navy SEAL Jared Hudson. He has movie star good looks and if someone could drop $10 million into his race he would sell. Both Barry Moore and Steve Marshall are very conservative candidates. However, they are both of modest means financially.
Marshall has nothing to lose by running for the senate. He has served his two-term limit as Alabama’s Attorney General. Thus, he simply is striving to move up the political ladder. Whereas if Congressman Barry Moore loses his seat in the U.S. Congress, he is out. Congressmen run every two years, so it is a big political gamble to run for a senate seat. Thus, the old adage – the political graveyard is full of congressmen, who have tried to move to the senate.
The winner of this race will be the one who can tap the Washington spigots of right-wing, fringe, dark money that plays on the Potomac. The biggest player in the right-wing Washington clandestine money pot is the now renowned Club for Growth. They are the Daddy Warbucks of the extreme right wing and are THE players in open U.S. Senate races in conservative Republican states. In fact, they only play in Republican primaries in Republican states. They are hidden deep pocketed donors, who believe in no government.
Ironically, the congressmen who are owned by the Club for Growth come from districts that are the most dependent on military, thus big government spending. The prime example was Alabama’s former Congressman Mo Brooks from Huntsville, who routinely voted against his district’s needs in favor of the Club for Growth. This group is not only anti-government, but anti-Trump. Trump hates them and does not like them owning Republican seats.
Club for Growth congressmen belong to the Freedom Caucus within the Republican ranks and these right-wing clones proudly display their Freedom Caucus membership. Washington insiders and mainstream Republicans recognize them as nuts. The Republican leadership relegates them to the back benches and does not allow them any plum committee assignments. However, these Freedom Caucus Club for Growth extremists do not care because they do not want to get anything done for their districts or state anyway. They thrive on being ineffective. All they want to do is sit on their back bench pews, bark at the moon, and throw reactionary bombs. They adamantly believe it is not their responsibility to help or bring home the bacon for their districts.
The Club for Growth owned two of our congressmen before Brooks left the House to get beaten for the Senate. They now own one. Congressman Barry Moore is their boy. The Club for Growth was doing extensive polling to determine if they could elect him, which is why Moore was late entering the race. This Club is the reason Barry Moore upset Jerry Carl in the new First District two years ago. Carl was blindsided by the Club’s big bucks, sophisticated polling, and ability to hide their money.
The Club for Growth would love to own five or six Republican senate seats. There is no telling what they will spend to buy this Senate seat for their boy Barry Moore. Poor Steve Marshall cannot imagine what is going to hit him. This race will not be decided in Alabama. It will be decided by deep, dark money in Washington.
See you next week.

U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) became the first statewide elected official to endorse her Senate colleague Tommy Tuberville in his campaign for governor — becoming one of the highest-profile backers in the state for the former Auburn head coach’s bid to lead Alabama.
“I’m excited to endorse my friend and colleague, Senator Tommy Tuberville, to serve as the next governor of our great state,” Britt said in a statement released Wednesday.
“From strengthening K-12 education and modernizing workforce development to growing good-paying jobs and investing in local infrastructure, we share the mission of putting Alabama First. Coach’s strong conservative leadership will serve all Alabamians well in Montgomery.”

Tuberville, who launched his campaign last month, expressed gratitude for Britt’s endorsement and signaled their partnership would continue in state government.
“I am grateful to be endorsed by my friend and colleague, Senator Katie Britt,” Tuberville (R-Auburn) said.
“Katie and I have been fighting for Alabama every day over the past several years in the Senate, and I know we will continue working together when I’m back home in Montgomery. Together, we will make sure Alabama is not just a great place to live, but the very best place to call home.”

Tuberville also shared the endorsement on social media, writing, “Senator Katie Britt is a strong conservative, a fearless fighter for Alabama, and a dear friend. I’m proud to have her support in our campaign to bring bold conservative leadership to Montgomery.”

Days after announcing his run for Governor, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville is continuing to deal with allegations that he does not meet the residency requirements necessary to hold the office.
In a short Wednesday interview on 95.3’s The Steve & DC Morning Show, Tuberville (R-Auburn) told the hosts he isn’t worried about the liberal speculation in the slightest.
“I’ve had land here and houses since 1999, which is over 25 years. I’ve been here,” said Tuberville. “Of course, I’m not going to do this unless I’ve gone through the process of really figuring it out. Because I’ve had jobs in Cincinnati and Texas Tech. When I came home, I did everything right and went through the proper channels.”
RELATED: ‘Nothing to that’: Tuberville addresses residency concerns surrounding potential run for Governor
Tuberville pointed to the persecution of President Donald Trump as an example of the left’s will to demonize Republicans, something that he, too, has already experienced both in Washington, D.C., and in Alabama.
“They went after the President on everything. I’m on a much smaller scale,” Tuberville continued. “They’ll go after me. They can’t stand me up here because I’m going to stand up to them. I have no problem with the rest of the deal. I was voted on five years ago to be the representative for Alabama in the United States Senate, and I campaigned two years before that. So, it’s not a problem.”
“Let them bring it up. They got nothing else.”

Ever the Coach, Tuberville also expressed a desire for competition in the race, particularly from Democrats.
“I want them to put somebody out there to run against me,” he said. “I just love beating them and beating them bad.”
Alabama’s 2026 election cycle will include a full turnover of the state’s executive and legislative branches. The primary election day will be held on May 26, 2026 — and candidates may begin raising money exactly one year prior.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville officially launched his campaign for Governor of Alabama Tuesday in Auburn, jumping straight into the issues and laying out a platform centered on K-12 education reform, economic growth, and stronger state-level control over federal programs.
Tuberville, whose first Senate term ends in 2026, said he plans to serve out the remainder of his time in Washington while also campaigning for Alabama’s top executive office. He described the move as a natural progression in his public service, emphasizing that his decision is rooted in a long-standing commitment to the state.
A longtime ally of President Donald Trump, Tuberville said his gubernatorial campaign aligns with Trump’s broader goal of shifting power and resources away from the federal government and back to the states. He praised Trump’s recent efforts and said Alabama must be ready to take advantage of Trump’s policies.
RELATED: Tuberville officially running for Governor of Alabama in 2026
Tuberville said he plans to serve out the remaining 18 months of his Senate term while campaigning for governor. He described the dual responsibilities as “double duty.”
“We’ve gotten a lot accomplished in the last four or five months with President Trump,” Tuberville said. “I’ll still be there for 18 months, but I want to do what’s best for the state.”
Tuberville said his top priority as governor would be improving K-12 education, calling it the foundation for a strong workforce and economy. He said Alabama has placed too much emphasis on higher education at the expense of basic skills.
“If you can’t read, if you can’t write, you can’t learn,” he said. “We’ve got way too many young men and women in this state at a sixth or seventh grade reading level. That’s not going to fly with me.”
On the subject of an education lottery, Tuberville said he is not personally in favor of gambling but would leave the decision to the Legislature and the voters.
“That’s going to be up to the people,” he said. “If they want it, fine. If they don’t, we’ll have to look at other places.”
Tuberville responded to questions about residency, saying he has owned property in Alabama since 2000 and considers it home. He acknowledged spending time in Florida and Washington, D.C., but said he and his family are rooted in Alabama.
“This is my home,” he said. “Residency won’t be a problem.”
Tuberville said he will continue pushing for spending cuts and economic reforms in the Senate while also traveling the state to campaign.
“We’ve got to cut spending,” he said. “If we don’t, every one of your taxes will go up two to three thousand dollars a month. We’ve got to get that done.”
Tuberville’s campaign website is CoachForGovernor.com, referencing the title that launched his political career and his stint as a football coach.

President Donald J. Trump’s first 100 days back in the White House have been nothing short of historic. After four years of open borders, weaponized government, and economic decline under Joe Biden, we now have a president that is committed to putting the American people first.
In just 100 days, President Trump has done more to restore the American Dream than most presidents have done in a full term. Just hours after his inauguration, he began undoing Biden’s disastrous executive orders, especially those that crippled our energy sector, restrained our economy, and opened our borders to chaos.
We see illegal border encounters down 94% compared to this time last year. President Trump has made illegal aliens afraid to try to enter the United States because they know they will be found by law enforcement, arrested, and deported. His mass deportation operation has led to 113,000 illegals being arrested and over 100,000 have been deported. The President’s deportation raids have also seen a 655% spike in arrests of terrorists within the United States. His plan to secure our border and make our nation safer is working.
We are seeing an economic revival. The President continues to slash job-killing regulations, re-open oil and gas production, leading to the United States being the largest net exporter of natural gas in the world, and restore confidence for small business owners and farmers across the country. He has secured more investments in the United States in his first 100 days than Joe Biden did in four years.
The President has shown American strength abroad. He has made clear that under his leadership, the United States will never be pushed around. There will be no more blank checks for nations around the world and no more bending the knee to adversaries like China or Iran. President Trump has made the world respect the United States once again.
President Trump is fighting for our America First values. The radical Left tried to divide us, silence us, and cancel us—but President Trump continues to prove he was the right choice to bring America into its Golden Age.
What I see in President Trump’s second term is a president who is leading with even more clarity and conviction than in his first term. No wonder the swamp is terrified.
President Trump answers only to the American people.
His first 100 days have been historic—but the best is yet to come. With President Trump back in the White House, and Republicans controlling the House and the Senate, we will take back our nation, restore our freedoms, and secure a future worthy of our children and grandchildren.
I am fighting alongside President Trump for the strong conservative values we believe in so we can keep America great.

North Alabama’s significant manufacturing capabilities are about to surge once again thanks to a multi-million-dollar investment from Cincinnati-based GE Aerospace.
According to Congressman Dale Strong, GE Aerospace is investing $22 million in the Huntsville area with the purchase of several new machines. The company says the technology is needed to increase its production of materials used in ceramic matrix composite aircraft engine parts.
“That is proof that President Trump’s economic policies are revitalizing American manufacturing,” said Strong (R-Huntsville) of the company’s decision. “Thanks to the Trump Administration, the United States will lead the next generation of innovative manufacturing and production of crucial supply chain materials.
“I support the President’s pro-growth agenda of cutting taxes, slashing regulation, implementing fair trade practices, and putting the American worker first. Our job creators know they have an ally in the White House.”
https://x.com/RepDaleStrong/status/1914749685941653699
The lawmaker emphasized that the skill and talent found in his home district are unparalleled.
“The Tennessee Valley’s workforce is second to none, and I am proud that GE Aerospace recognizes the dedication of our local talent. I look forward to partnering with GE Aerospace for years to come and am excited to see their continued expansion right here at home,” Strong said. “As I often say, there is no better place to do business and create high-paying jobs than in North Alabama.”
The investment in north Alabama is part of GE Aerospace’s larger plans to invest nearly $1 billion in its U.S. factories and supply chain. For H. Lawrence Culp, Jr., Chairman and CEO of GE Aerospace, the investments are intended to help keep the U.S. at the “forefront of aerospace leadership.”
“Investing in manufacturing and innovation is more critical than ever for the future of our industry and the communities where we operate,” said Culp. “We are committed to helping our customers modernize and expand their fleets while scaling technologies that will truly define the future of flight.”
Engines made by GE Aerospace and its joint venture partners power three out of every four commercial flights around the world and two of three U.S. military combat and helicopter aircraft.

In Alabama, our commitment to conservative values isn’t just rhetoric—it’s reflected in real actions that make life better for the people of our state. The Alabama Republican Party has a strong track record of defending the rights and freedoms of every individual. One of our primary goals has always been ensuring that hardworking Alabama families get to keep more of what they earn.
Today, as Alabamians face rising costs and economic pressures, the ALGOP Steering Committee reaffirmed the Party’s long-standing commitment to lower taxes by passing a resolution that calls for decisive action to reduce the tax burden on our communities.
Our conservative principles have long taught us that lower taxes empower economic growth, promote fiscal responsibility, and provide much-needed relief for families struggling to make ends meet.
By reducing the tax burden, we enable Alabamians to invest in their families, fuel local economies, and create opportunities that attract new businesses to our state.
That’s why the Alabama GOP is proud to be working hand-in-hand with the state legislature on a comprehensive package of four bills designed to provide nearly $200 million in annual tax cuts. These measures are meant to keep more money in the pockets of every single person in Alabama.
Cutting the Grocery Tax
One of the key components of our tax relief strategy is an immediate additional 1% reduction in the state’s grocery tax—bringing the total reduction to 2% since 2023. This move will save Alabama families an estimated $123 million each year on groceries alone.
In total, the 2% grocery tax cut represents a $246 million yearly reduction, easing the everyday financial strain on households across the state.
Supporting Seniors on Fixed Incomes
Our seniors deserve to enjoy the fruits of their lifelong work without the burden of excessive taxes. That’s why one of our bills doubles the state’s tax exemption for withdrawals from retirement plans—from $6,000 to $12,000.
This important change is projected to cut taxes by $44.8 million annually, providing critical relief for those on fixed incomes.
Lowering the Income Tax
Recognizing that every dollar counts, our package also includes provisions to ease the income tax burden. By increasing the income floor, expanding the standard deduction, and raising the income threshold for the maximum dependent exemption, we’re set to reduce state income taxes for Alabamians by an additional $23.8 million each year. This measure ensures that more hardworking citizens keep a larger share of their earnings.
These bills are more than just numbers—they represent our commitment to a government that works for its people. In these challenging economic times, we stand united as a party dedicated to the principles of limited government and fiscal prudence.
We remain focused on delivering policies that not only uphold our conservative ideals but also make a real, measurable difference in the lives of our fellow Alabamians. With strong leadership and a clear vision, Alabama will continue to be a beacon of economic freedom and opportunity.
The Alabama Republican Party stands strong for tax cuts. We will keep fighting to ensure that every Alabamian—whether a small business owner, a hardworking family member, or a retired citizen—can thrive in a state that values liberty, hard work, and fiscal responsibility.
John Wahl is the Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, and also serves as RNC Vice Chairman for the Southern Region. U.S. Senators Rick Scott (R-FL) and Mike Lee (R-UT) publicly thanked Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) for voting for Scott in Wednesday’s election for Senate Republican Leader.
“Thank you, @SenKatieBritt! Let’s get President Trump’s agenda done!” Scott posted to social media, confirming Britt’s support for him.
Lee – who is the chair of the conservative Steering Committee and a leading supporter of Scott’s candidacy – also posted, “Thank you, @KatieBrittforAL, for supporting @ScottforFlorida in his run for majority leader.”
Britt on Thursday morning joined “Alabama Morning News with JT” to discuss her support for Scott.
“[M]y biggest thing was I wanted change. I wanted to know how they would be different than the current leadership,” Britt explained of what she was looking for in leadership candidates.
“And for me, ultimately, that came down to Rick Scott,” she continued. “I had a list of questions. I wanted to know how the Senate could operate better, what they were going to do to advance the Trump agenda, how they were going to empower individual Senators – and not be a ‘super Senator’ like we see with Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell … So, I wanted to see who was ready for real change – and not just abstract conversation, but I wanted to hear, ‘What is your plan?’”
Britt outlined that after Lee’s candidate forum on Tuesday evening, she made her decision final to vote for Scott and called him before Wednesday morning’s vote to confirm her support.
“[T]here was no doubt, that when we look at needing change and we look at making sure that America’s voices are heard, that Rick was ready to just turn the applecart upside down and really move things in a different direction,” Britt remarked.
Britt concluded that Republicans are united and ready to advance President Trump’s agenda.
“The energy is just through the roof. People understand what the American people want, and I think everyone is ready to work diligently to get Trump’s agenda moving forward to actually make a difference. And look, we only have two years to do this, and that’s why we’ve got to get started.”
Despite a false list circulating on social media, only 9 Senators (in addition to Scott himself) have publicly stated they voted for Scott, who received 13 votes. Those 9 are: Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Britt, Ted Cruz (R-TX), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Lee, Rand Paul (R-KY), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn).

As people speculate how Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) will vote in Wednesday’s Republican Senate leadership election, Yellowhammer News is examining her voting record in the Senate.
Following research that showed Britt has been the second most frequent opponent of President Biden’s judicial nominees, we took our own deep dive into Britt’s comprehensive voting history since taking office in January 2023, when the 118th Congress convened.
There have been 607 roll call votes during this time period, which predominantly come down on party lines. Comparing Britt’s votes to other members of the Republican conference, it is clear that Alabama’s junior senator tracks most closely to Senators with strong conservative bona fides.
For example, Britt’s votes corresponded with U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Tom Cotton (R-AR) 94.8% of the time, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) 91.7%, and Vice President-elect JD Vance (R-OH) 88.3%.
Despite being an advisor on the Senate Republican leadership team, Sen. Britt is more likely than not to break with current Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) when it comes to issues that divide the Republican conference. Britt has voted differently than McConnell a total of 92 times in her short time in office.
RELATED: Sen. Katie Britt second-most conservative opponent of Biden judicial nominees
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), who chairs the conservative Steering Committee, on Tuesday evening is hosting a forum for the leadership candidates. Yellowhammer News used the occasion to scrutinize the votes during the 118th Congress when Lee voted differently than McConnell.
The results showed that Britt voted with Lee rather than McConnell in a majority of these instances. She was recently recognized for her staunch conservative voting record by the likes of CPAC and the Faith & Freedom Coalition.

As the race for Alabama’s re-drawn 2nd Congressional District enters its final weeks, Shomari Figures and Caroleene Dobson have released their latest fundraising reports.
Figures, the Democratic nominee, reported raising $1,105,000 during the third quarter, which accounts for July 1 through September 30 of this year. According to the campaign, that could account for the most financially successful quarter for a Democratic congressional candidate in Alabama — rivaled only by Doug Jones in 2020, whose unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate reported raising $1.9 million in Q4.
Of Figures third-quarter fundraising totals, $816,060 came from individual contributions, and $253,214 came from PACs.
Republican candidate Caroleene Dobson reported raising $558,228 during the third quarter, with $395,655 coming from individual contributions, $131,950 from PACs, and a personal loan of $300,000. Dobson ended the quarter with $491,765 in cash on hand.
Since the initial filing of both their campaigns nearly one year ago, Dobson has raised $3,089,380 while Figures has raised $1,999,272. Dobson has spent $2,597,614 and Figures has spent $1,254,639 — with a $406,480 of that from the third quarter.
RELATED: Alabama Minority GOP endorses Caroleene Dobson for Congress
“Much of Figures’ fundraising dollars come from groups and individuals in places like Massachusetts, California, and Washington, D.C., where their extremist liberal beliefs are directly opposed to the traditional morals and values that most Alabamians embrace,” Drew Dickson, a spokesperson for Dobson’s campaign said in a statement.
“His high-dollar, out-of-state donors want to elect a Washington, D.C. insider who does not live in Alabama, does not think like Alabama, and will not vote the way Alabamians want him to vote, and Shomari Figures is the perfect puppet for their liberal purposes.”
With the November 5, 2024 general election just weeks away, both campaigns are racing to win over voters in what has become one of the most closely-watched contests in Alabama and across the country, due in large measure to its untested demographic makeup, which leans Democrat.
RELATED: Shomari Figures touts Obama ties in new ads
“The more than $1 million raised is an investment from the people who are ready to protect Social Security benefits, expand healthcare access, and elect someone who will put this District first and actually work to find solutions for the most pressing problems we have here at home,” Shomari Figures said in a statement Wednesday.
“I want to thank every contributor for the confidence and faith they have placed in this effort to bring a new generation of leadership and representation to Alabama. While we are incredibly thankful for the financial support the campaign is receiving, we know that this is and will continue to be a very tough race, and there is a lot of work to do,” Shomari Figures said in a statement Wednesday.

As Christians, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment in history. Recent studies show a startling revelation—only 51% of Christians in America are planning to vote in the upcoming election. This is startling to me considering the importance of this election and the responsibility of believers to engage in participate in civic engagement. The implications of this are profound, not just for the political landscape but for the moral and spiritual direction of our nation.
This moment calls for all believers to engage with urgency and purpose. Our failure to act could result in consequences extending beyond politics and into the fabric of our faith and freedoms.
Romans 13 provides a foundational biblical perspective on our role as citizens under governing authorities. In this passage, Paul states that all authority is established by God, and we are called to submit to it. But submission doesn’t mean passive obedience; it means active engagement in shaping that authority.
Christians are to respect governing authorities because they are ordained by God to execute justice and promote good. This principle emphasizes our responsibility to influence those authorities through our vote.
We often overlook the powerful role we play as citizens of a republic. In our system of government, power is ultimately derived from the people. This means that as Christian voters, we have been entrusted with the stewardship of our nation. God has given us the opportunity to choose leaders who will uphold biblical values, protect religious freedom, and promote justice.
If we neglect this responsibility, we are relinquishing our God-given role in society.
Voting as an Act of Faith
For the Christian, voting is not just a civic duty—it is an act of faith. Every decision we make at the ballot box reflects our values, our priorities, and our belief in the sovereignty of God. When we choose not to vote, we are abdicating our influence, and allowing others—often those with agendas counter to biblical truth—to shape the laws and policies that govern our lives.
Inaction is not neutrality; it is surrender.
In this upcoming election, the stakes could not be higher. As believers, we must recognize that our vote has the power to shape the future of this country. We are at a crossroads where issues like the sanctity of life, religious freedom, and the protection of the family are hanging in the balance. These are not just political issues; they are moral ones. They strike at the heart of who we are as Christians and what we believe about God’s design for humanity.
A Call to Action: Trump and the Future of America
For many believers, the decision to support President Trump in the upcoming election is not simply about politics; it is about aligning our votes with biblical principles. President Trump has been a staunch defender of religious freedom, a champion for the unborn, and an advocate for restoring law and order. His administration has worked to protect the rights of churches, religious organizations, and Christian business owners from being forced to compromise their faith. This is no small feat in a culture that increasingly marginalizes and ridicules biblical values.
Yet, despite these clear victories, hesitation remains among some Christians to engage in the political process. Perhaps it is the divisive nature of our political discourse, or maybe it is disillusionment with the imperfect nature of human leadership. But we cannot afford to be complacent.
This election is too important to sit on the sidelines. As believers, we need to remember that while no candidate is perfect, our vote is about supporting the policies and values that align more closely with Scripture.
To the 49% of Christians who are considering staying home on Election Day, I urge you to reconsider. This election is about whether or not we will have leaders who defend life, protect religious freedom, and uphold the Constitution. It is about whether we will continue to have the ability to worship freely and raise our children according to our faith. These are foundational issues to the future of America and the preservation of our Christian heritage.
If we choose not to vote, we are effectively allowing those who oppose biblical values to gain more influence. We are handing over the reins of power to those who will push for policies that undermine the sanctity of life, weaken the family unit, and restrict religious freedom. In doing so, we are not only failing in our civic duty but also in our biblical mandate to be salt and light in the world (Matthew 5:13-16).
With less than a month until Election Day, time is of the essence. Every Christian must take stock of the weight of this moment and the responsibility we bear. The study showing that millions of Christians may choose not to vote is alarming. But it is not too late to change course. We can make our voices heard, to stand up for what is right, and to be counted among those who fought for the soul of this nation.
The path forward is clear: We must vote, and we must encourage others to do the same. As Christians, we must approach this election prayerfully, seeking God’s wisdom and discernment as we cast our ballots. In the words of Edmund Burke, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
Let us not be the generation of Christians who did nothing when our country needed us most. Let us be the generation that stood boldly for truth, voted with conviction, and trusted God to guide the future of our nation.
This election is a battle for the heart of America, and every Christian has a role to play. Do not sit this one out. Vote.

The treatment and costs associated with in vitro fertilization should be mandatorily covered by insurance providers for all recipients, former President Donald Trump said today in the announcement of a new policy position.
“I’m announcing today in a major statement that under the Trump administration, your government will pay for, or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for all costs associated with IVF treatment fertilization for women,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Michigan. “Because we want more babies, to put it very nicely.”
“And for the same reason, we will also allow new parents to deduct major newborn expenses from taxes, so that parents that have a beautiful baby.”

RELATED: Trump calls on Alabama lawmakers to ensure IVF availability – ‘I strongly support’
Trump spoke out strongly in favor of IVF immediately following an Alabama Supreme Court ruling that dealt with the practice became a matter of national attention earlier this year. Democrats, including vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, are engaged in an effort to politicize the issue. Walz deliberately mischaracterized his wife’s infertility treatment as IVF in a fundraising plea earlier this month.
U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) has been a reliable messenger for the former President’s position on IVF. Britt introduced the IVF Protection Act along with U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), which was ultimately blocked by Senate Democrats.
Trump’s new policy proposal is the latest indication the subject of IVF will remain relevant in the 2024 election beyond.
“We’re pro-family,” Trump said. “The IVF treatments are so expensive, it’s very hard for many people to do it and to get it. But I’ve been in favor of IVF right from the beginning.”

Just under 90 days away from the 2024 general election, Democratic pollster Kevin Akins and GOP pollster Jim McLaughlin provided their latest analysis of the race for the White House and which party might control the U.S. House and Senate once the votes are counted.
The pollster panel is a recurring feature of the Business Council of Alabama’s annual Governmental Affairs Conference, moderated this year by Jason Isbell, Senior Vice President of State Government Affairs and Economic Development for Regions Bank.
Both McLaughlin and Akins agreed on several aspects of the road between now and November and beyond. They each think election results will not be conclusive the night of the election itself, swing states will determine the ultimate outcome, and that the next 87 days will feel like years worth of campaign politics.
Akins noted that the RealClearPolitics average shows a tight Electoral College map.
“I noticed that there were three polls out from the New York Times today that in the Rust Belt, had Harris up 50 to 46, so maybe the next time I give this presentation, some of the numbers change a little bit. But we have Trump up by about 1.8 in Pennsylvania and in Wisconsin, just a coin flip. I really think you have to continue to watch those states, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.”
McLaughlin advertised just how close recent presidential elections have been decided. He said that while Republicans celebrated Trump’s 2016 Electoral College victory, it was decided by fewer than 80,000 votes in three key states—Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Although Biden received 81 million votes in 2020, he won by less than 44,000 votes in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia.
“We have Donald Trump actually ahead in the suburbs [48% to 44%], he’s up by four. We ran behind by about double digits in the suburbs back in the 2020 election. So that’s important finding,” McLaughlin said. “In terms of the battleground states, if you look at the presidential race right now, you look at an average of the polls nationally — basically tied. You look at the battleground states now, Donald Trump is up [2%].”
“Look, Donald Trump does not have to win the national general election vote in order to win the election. Remember back to 2016 he won an electoral college victory. If he probably loses the electoral the national vote by only two or three points, chances are he’s probably going to win. When you look at states like Arizona plus three in the average; Georgia, as Kevin mentioned, basically tied, trump up one; Michigan, they’ve got him at minus two; North Carolina plus three for Trump; Nevada plus four; Pennsylvania plus two, and Wisconsin minus one.”
RELATED: Nick Saban to headline BCA’s annual fundraising event
McLaughlin shared confident figures behind the GOP’s chances of maintaining control of the U.S. House and gaining seats in the Senate, but pointed out that Republicans often retain control of Congress even when they lose the national popular vote in congressional elections. On the Senate front, he predicted that Republicans could secure 51 to 53 seats, depending on how races in key states like West Virginia, Montana, and Pennsylvania play out.
During the panel, Akins described Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District as a highly-competitive “pale blue” seat that can swing from one election to the next. He said the impressive fundraising performance of the Republican candidate Caroleene Dobson, who significantly outpaced her opponent, Shomari Figures in Q2 campaign fundraising, makes that race tight as well.
“When does the spending really kick off? Are we going to start seeing August or early September ad attacks on this race? This is a race that’s kinda evenly split between Mobile and Montgomery, but there’s also a lot of swing vote and an interesting swing vote in the Columbus media market, which will be drowned with presidential campaign ads, because some our more rural counties are getting targeted by the same people trying to win Georgia,” Akins said. “So, this race has a lot of coattails.”
“Biden won this seat by about 12 points, but at the same time, our governor, Kay Ivey, won it by two points, and it was a toss-up in the U.S. Senate race with Senator Britt. So you see the ability for Republicans to really have a strong message here, and I think it’s one worth watching. I’ll just say, presidential year dynamics and my own bias, I’d probably rather it’d be Shomari Figures, but it’s exciting to have a competitive race here this year, and certainly I think one that we watch down to the wire.”

Yesterday afternoon, Brilyn Hollyhand and Caroleene Dobson teamed up at the Alabama GOP headquarters to energize voters ahead of the 2024 election in November. Hollyhand, an Alabama native and youth GOP activist, made a name for himself after founding the news service ‘The Truth Gazette” at age 11.
Hollyhand has since become a vocal advocate of GOP candidates and causes while conducting interviews with some of the Republican Party’s most influential figures.Brilyn fully endorsed Caroleene Dobson in the newly drawn congressional district that includes parts of Mobile, Troy, and Montgomery.
In his endorsement, Hollyhand said that “Reclaiming the White House and the Senate means nothing if we don’t keep the House. That’s why I’m proud to endorse my friend Caroleene in AL-2!”
“She’s a fighter who will be your conservative voice on the Hill. I’m committed to helping her win my peers’ support in November!” said Brilyn.
The youth GOP activist has already begun campaigning for Dobson, including reaching out to youth voters and making media appearances in her district.

Polling from the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) showed that President Biden and Donald Trump are in a statistical tie in Alabama’s 2nd congressional district, indicating that this newly drawn district is anyone’s race to win.
Caroleene Dobson was born and raised in Beatrice, Alabama where she grew up on her family’s fifth generation cattle farm. Dobson is a mother of two, an attorney, and lifelong advocate for conservative values.
Dobson attended Harvard College, earning a degree in history and literature. As a student at Harvard, Caroleene was an active member of the Harvard Republican Club, advocating for conservative values on campus. Dobson went on to receive her law degree from Baylor and currently practices real estate law at Maynard Nexsen Law Firm.
Her opponent, Shomari Figures Shomari recently endorsed Kamala Harris for President.
Voting in this race will take place during the general election on November 5th. You can find information about your polling location and district here.

As the Republican National Convention unfolds this week, you will see all the GOP stars on stage and featured all week, especially on Fox News.
You will probably not see one of the former potential rising political show horses featured or interviewed. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem may be there but will be shunned and snubbed by the GOP faithful and media. She has been relegated to the political graveyard, now and forever. She is now a comedic laughingstock and punchline in political circles.
This time, six months ago, the spectacularly attractive South Dakotan was actually being considered to be Donald Trump’s running mate. Indeed, our Senior Senator Tommy “Coach” Tuberville, who has become one of Trump’s closest allies and confidantes, recently shared with me that while he and Trump were golfing at Mar-a-Lago earlier this year, Trump referred to Noem often and inferred that she was being considered as his running mate.
Noem was aspiring to be on the national stage. She was the keynote speaker at the Alabama GOP Winter Dinner in recent years. About a year ago, she began running ads on Fox News promoting South Dakota, which primarily featured her in jeans and a hard hat. Ostensibly, these ads were to attract business to the small, obscure, sparsely populated, western state. They were really designed to promote her as the Governor of South Dakota and to help build her name identification with an eye towards national politics.
As is the case with aspiring governors and senators, who begin being touted as potential presidential aspirants, they come out with a book. Governor Kristi Noem was relatively unknown except in small Republican circles. However, her book made her nationally and even internationally known.
For you see, this western girl told the whole world that she took her pet dog out to a gravel pit and shot it dead and left it there just because she did not like it anymore. She more than likely did not write the book, a ghost writer did. However, she had to have read the book, and approved it, and given the writer that gruesome aspect of her life. A chapter was devoted to it.
My first thought was, is this for real? Then, what kind of aspiring political person would tell the world this in not only an interview, but in her own book? Her so-called biography. What kind of stupid political adviser would allow that to go into a book? What kind of publisher would allow that passage and think that the book would be bought and make any money?
Bless her heart, Kristi Noem was set to promote the book, and the book was leaked, and the passage posted prior to her appearances. The greeting was so savage and brutal from all news sources, even Fox, that within a day of total ridicule and abject obvious hatred toward her, she and her advisers tucked their tails and hightailed it back to South Dakota. She will probably never be heard from again.
If Noem ever goes anywhere to a political or social event, the rest of her life she will be met with a laugh or sneer as a joke. She will forever be known as the woman dog killer. She will be the brunt of jokes for life. She is through, politically, and to think she did it to herself. She not only shot her dog, she also shot herself in the foot with the same bullet. In fact, she did not shoot herself in the foot, she shot herself in the head, politically. Kristi Noem committed political suicide.
I have been scratching my head for the last three months since Noem’s unbelievable revelation, trying to think of another example of overt political suicide in my lifetime. I cannot remember anything similar.
About this same time, it occurred to me that every older, white Republican I came in touch with had a dog that they loved and adored. Senator Richard Shelby has a new dog named Tallulah. Governor Kay Ivey has a beloved dog named Missy. My older brother, Scott, just lost his 13-year-old collie Jessie at about this time. He is still in mourning.
The same week as Kristi Noem’s horror story, ironically, I’m watching Fox News and Kristi’s South Dakota ad is sandwiched between an ad for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and gourmet dog food, which older Republicans are obviously buying for their dogs. They are probably not buying Kristi Noem’s book that tells of her adventures of killing her dog in a gravel pit.
In political circles, she will be forever known as “Krazy Kristi” Noem.
See you next week.

Chairman of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee and Alabama Congressman Mike Rogers (R-Saks) shared his support for a new Alabama law exempting troops from state income tax while deployed or mobilized.
This year, the Alabama Legislature passed 10 pro-military bills addressing several policy areas to further solidify Alabama’s status as one of the most military and veteran friendly states in the country. Last week, Governor Kay Ivey held a ceremonial bill signing to reiterate that commitment.
Among the bills included the Relief for Deployed and Mobilized Servicemembers Act, which exempts all overseas deployment pay from state income tax for all servicemembers and exempts National Guard and Reserve state-side mobilization pay from state income tax.
Sponsored by State Sen. Andrew Jones (R-Centre) and State Rep. Kenneth Pascal (R-Pelham) who are both heavily involved with Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth’s Military Stability Commission, carried the bills through their respective chambers.

“Governor Ivey and our gifted state legislators continue to cement Alabama’s place as the most military-friendly state in the country,” Chairman Rogers said.
“This law will make a real difference for our troops and their families while they are deployed or mobilized. I want to specifically commend Representative Ed Oliver and Senator Andrew Jones for their tireless efforts as chairmen of the House and Senate committees overseeing military and veterans issues to improve servicemember quality of life in Alabama. It is unconscionable that our men and women in uniform are taxed on income earned while they are fighting for our country, and I plan to pursue further income tax exemptions for deployed and mobilized troops at the federal level.”
In recent weeks, Rogers’ committee and the Republican-led U.S. Congress authorized the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act, featured with a focus on measures to enhance the conditions for those who serve in the Armed Forces.

The Republican National Committee has released its 2024 platform, now just months away from the November election. In the new plan of action are several tenets meant to restore “common sense” in both politics and policy.
It marks the first time that the party has strongly and succinctly revised its public mission since 2016.
“For decades, our politicians sold our jobs and livelihoods to the highest bidders overseas with unfair trade deals and a blind faith in the siren song of globalism,” reads the preamble of the platform. “They insulated themselves from criticism and the consequences of their own bad actions, allowing our borders to be overrun, our cities to be overtaken by crime, our system of justice to be weaponized, and our young people to develop a sense of hopelessness and despair.”
“They rejected our history and our values. Quite simply, they did everything in their power to destroy our country.”
The 2024 GOP platform, dedicated to the “forgotten men and women of America,” is listed below:
- Seal the border, and stop the migrant invasion
- Carry out the largest deportation operation in American history
- End inflation, and make America affordable again
- Make America the dominant energy producer in the world, by far
- Stop outsourcing, and turn the United States into a manufacturing superpower
- Large tax cuts for workers, and no tax on tips
- Defend our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and our fundamental freedoms, including freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to keep and bear arms
- Prevent World War Three, restore peace in Europe and in the Middle East, and build a great Iron Dome missile defense shield over our entire country — all made in America
- End the weaponization of government against the American people
- Stop the migrant crime epidemic, demolish the foreign drug cartels, crush gang violence, and lock up violent offenders
- Rebuild our cities, including Washington D.C., making them safe, clean, and beautiful again
- Strengthen and modernize our military, making it, without question, the strongest and most powerful in the world
- Keep the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency
- Fight for and protect Social Security and Medicare with no cuts, including no changes to the retirement age
- Cancel the electric vehicle mandate and cut costly and burdensome regulations
- Cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, radical gender ideology, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content on our children
- Keep men out of women’s sports
- Deport pro-Hamas radicals and make our college campuses safe and patriotic again
- Secure our elections, including same day voting, voter identification, paper ballots, and proof of citizenship
- Unite our country by bringing it to new and record levels of success
The platform is scheduled to be formally adopted at the Republican National Convention on July 15.

In the days since her televised takedown of President Joe Biden’s “wildly political” State of the Union address, a style and tone familiar to Alabamians made its nationwide debut, setting off a viral reaction from left-leaning pundits meeting U.S. Senator Katie Britt for the first time and conservatives appraising her status as a top contender 2024 GOP presidential ticket as Trump’s vice presidential pick.
This weekend, Saturday Night Live’s opening segment featured a take on her Thursday night GOP response to the State of the Union.
Britt (R-Montgomery), played by America’s highest-paid actress, Scarlett Johansson, was portrayed in largest measure for a mix between charisma, emotion, and dark themes evoked by an immigration crisis that, in reality, has metastasized into a “national security and humanitarian crisis,” Britt has repeatedly said.
“Good evening, America. My name is Katie Britt. And I have the honor of serving the great people of Alabama,” Johansson said as Britt. “But tonight, I’ll be auditioning for the part of ‘scary mom’ and I’ll be performing an original monologue called ‘this country is hell.’”
FULL VIDEO:
Saturday Night Live itself has been a historic platform of political virality and legitimacy for candidates making a foray into the national spotlight with celebrity impressions of leaders on both sides of the aisle. Britt’s appearance is being argued as the latest instance of that.
Democrats’ reaction to Thursday’s State of the Union address by President Joe Biden – in which he admitted that 22-year-old Georgia student Laken Riley died brutally at the hand of “an illegal” – has turned sharply to a frame-by-frame criticism of Britt’s response.
RELATED: Britt challenges Biden’s policies in kitchen-table rebuttal to SOTU
Britt’s response on behalf of Republicans after the State of the Union was praised by former President Trump as “compassionate and caring” in contrast to the speech given by a leader who 6 in 10 American voters doubt the mental capability of.
“Katie Britt was a GREAT contrast to an Angry, and obviously very Disturbed, ‘President,’” Trump posted. “She was compassionate and caring, especially concerning Women and Women’s Issues. Her conversation on Migrant Crime was powerful and insightful. Great job Katie!”
On Sunday, U.S. Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said while both speeches were “over-the-top” — “The media overreaction to hers not his tells us who liberals most fear as VP nominee.”
In a good way, the delivery was over-the-top, out of character—Biden’s, of course. Katie Britt’s too. The media overreaction to hers not his tells us who liberals most fear as VP nominee.
— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) March 10, 2024
In weekend interviews, Sen. Britt said she’s focused on undoing Biden-era policies that allow drug and human trafficking to thrive, leaving Americans in its wake.
“We know that his policies, his decisions, the result of them, is what we’re seeing all across the country. It is everything from fentanyl overdoses and poisonings to brutal murders. And American people deserve better — and that’s all on him,” Britt told FOX’s Sean Hannity.
“He comes into office, and his first 100 days in office, he executes 94 executive orders to undo President Trump’s border policies. We had the most secure border ever — that’s what Joe Biden actually inherited — but he wanted to make a change. He did that on day one when he said ‘we are going to halt construction of the border wall, we’re going to stop deporting illegal aliens’ and he said, you know what, ‘we’re gonna give amnesty to millions.’”
“When he did that, and he changed these policies, they became a magnet for more and more people to come here,” Britt said.
In her Thursday night address, Sen. Britt encouraged Americans to “get into the arena.”
“I know you’re probably disgusted by most of what you see going on in Washington. And I’ll be really honest with you, you’re not wrong for feeling that way. Look, I get it. The task in front of us isn’t an easy one, but I can promise you one thing: It is worth it.”
“So I am asking you for the sake of your kids and your grandkids, get into the arena. Every generation has been called to do hard things,” Britt told viewers nationwide.
In her weekend interview, Britt said, “You know, Sean, last night I told people to get into the arena.”
“And when you get into the arena, you get arrows; they get thrown at you. But it is worth it when you’re fighting for the American people, when you’re fighting to make sure hard-working families, just like you said in your last segment, that they are seen, that they have a voice, that the things they are concerned about, that they’re worried about – that we’re actually talking about them,” Britt said.
“Things that we talk about around our kitchen table, Joe Biden seems to be detached from reality. Somebody needs to bring him back and quick.”

Over the past three and a half years, we have watched as President Biden took every possible step to weaken our nation.
We have seen the Taliban grow more powerful in Afghanistan. We awoke on an October morning to the news of Hamas attacking Israel, one of our closest allies. We have been forced to deal with the consequences of Biden’s crisis at the Southern border.
On Thursday night, we, as a nation, saw a glimpse of hope for the first time in a very long time. We witnessed true leadership and a dose of truth that the American people needed to hear.
Senator Katie Britt’s leadership gave us hope that better days are ahead and that the current desperate state in which our country finds itself is not eternal but is, instead, a temporary setback.
The conservative cavalry is coming and Alabama’s Senator Britt is helping to lead it.
She has the guts to stand up and say no to Biden’s vision for a diminished America. She has the policy chops to formulate solutions to the crisis that his liberal policies have caused and she has both the work ethic and unwavering commitment to the greatness of our nation to bring us back from the state of crisis that Biden and his band of liberal followers have caused.
Liberal activists saw the writing on the wall when Senator Britt delivered the response to the State of the Union.
They saw what real solution-based leadership looks like and they saw the end of their reign coming and coming fast. Democrats may be circling the wagons to launch personal attacks at Alabama’s Senator.
SNL writers may be bringing in the big guns to try to get Senator Britt to back down but the joke is on them. The Avengers are imaginary but Senator Britt and her vision for a better America are very real.
She won’t back down and neither will the millions of conservative Americans who support her.
Scott Stadthagen serves as the Majority Leader of the 75-member Alabama House Republican Caucus and is the state representative for Alabama House District 9.
Today, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell announced Alabama’s very own, U.S. Senator Katie Britt will deliver the Republican Address to the Nation following the State of the Union address next Thursday, March 7.
“I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to speak directly to my fellow Americans and have a candid conversation about the future of our nation,” Sen. Britt said.
“The Republican Party is the party of hardworking parents and families, and I’m looking forward to putting this critical perspective front and center. There is no doubt that President Biden’s failed presidency has made America weaker and more vulnerable at every turn. At this decisive moment in our country’s history, it’s time for the next generation to step up and preserve the American Dream for our children and our grandchildren.”

Senator Katie Britt is an unapologetic optimist, and as one of our nation’s youngest Senators, she’s wasted no time becoming a leading voice in the fight to secure a stronger American future and leave years of Washington Democrats’ failures behind.”
Britt holds key committee assignments, including the Committee on Appropriations; Banking, Housing, and Urban Development; and the powerful Rules Committee.

“Americans are struggling amid a border catastrophe, crushing inflation, an increasingly dangerous world, and fears about a President not up to the task. “As the only current Republican mom of school-aged kids serving in the Senate, Katie is fighting to preserve the American Dream for the next generation. She is a champion for strong families, a secure border, national defense and a vibrant economy with stable prices and opportunities for all. The American people will tune in as the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the Senate turns the page on the oldest President in history.”

Ohio voters approved adding certain abortion rights to the state’s constitution Tuesday, causing concern among some conservative Republicans that the party is losing on the issue.
The GOP also lost some important elections in Kentucky and Virginia.
U.S. Sen Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) believes that the Republican Party needs to learn from its mistakes and put out a better message.
Britt discussed the recent elections Thursday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program.”
“I think what we have to do is take a step back, take a look at what we’re doing and how we’re doing it,” Britt said. “I think we have to work diligently to change hearts and minds. No good thing is usually easy. Doing a hard thing will be hitting this head on. We must work to protect life and we must work on how we message this.”
The senator thinks her party needs to highlight the radical position of Democrats on abortion.
“We know that the Democrats have an extreme policy and yet we’ve allowed them to control the airwaves and deflect from that,” she argued. “It was last year when every single Democrat voted to be able to take the life of a child the moment before a child was born. And that’s not something that we should allow them to run from. I believe that is not where people in this nation are.”
Britt said many of states’ current abortion policies are among the worse in the world.
“Having abortions after 24 weeks puts the U.S…in a category with only four other nations with regards to that, and one of them is China and one of them is North Korea,” she explained. “And so I certainly don’t want to be in a category with them on this or much of anything.”
She emphasized the need for her party to “do better” when it comes to reaching voters on some of the most important issues the country faces.
“I think we’ve got to just do better,” she said. “We’ve got to be honest about it and figure out how we do a better job of talking on talking to voters. I think we’re right on policy issues. When you look at this nation, whether it is the border, whether it’s abroad, whether it’s here at home, we are weaker on more vulnerable every day that Joe Biden is in the White House. We need to make sure that parents and hard working people know that we’re fighting for them and we also have to fight for the moral compass of this country. I believe that is worth fighting for, I believe that is what we’re called to do, and I think that’s what’s ahead of us.”
