Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn is known for his fist pumps. They’re in every highlight video and you can see the “Boom” whenever something good happens. Auburn also just hired defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, or Coach Boom. Expect a lot of booming from Auburn’s coaches next season, as well as its presumably improved defense.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama’s Breanna Hayden and Auburn’s Hasina Muhammad traded blows during a scuffle Thursday night in Foster Auditorium. With the NFL Draft process in full flux, players will do just about anything to increase their draft stock. To help his chances, Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall is changing positions, reverting back to his old position of cornerback. Marshall was recruited to Georgia as a cornerback out of high school, but switched to quarterback when […]

(Slideshow above: Movoto’s “10 Best Places in Alabama.”) The Movoto Real Estate blog is back with another list, this time ranking what they believe to be the “10 Best Places in Alabama.” While any list like this tends to be highly subjective, Movoto has attempted to lay out some measurable criteria used to come up […]

Just hours after the hiring of Alabama inside linebackers coach Kevin Steele at LSU was made official, another Alabama assistant has left the program. Outside linebackers coach Kevin Thompson has officially accepted the same position at Auburn, and will join the Tigers’ new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp in his rebuilding effort at the school. Thompson […]

The college football season ended less than 24 hours ago, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to rank the top 25 teams for next season. Crushing both of their bowl opponents, TCU and national champion Ohio State are the top two teams in rankings by ESPN’s Mark Schlabach. Baylor, USC and Oregon round out […]

Yahoo!’s Pat Forde recently made the trek down to Birmingham, Ala., the cradle of SEC Country, to find out for himself why Alabama and Auburn are so dang good at football. His conclusion, which he comes to early on in his lengthy article declaring the state of Alabama “the center of the college football universe,” […]

According to Forbes, Alabama is the fourth most valuable college football team in the country, followed closely by Auburn at No. 6. The magazine estimates the Tide has a value of $107 million, with a profit of $53 million after accruing $95 million in revenue. Here’s what Forbes had to say about the Crimson Tide: […]

Alabama football is No. 1 in the country according to the College Football Playoff rankings, but it would still make the final four in academics. New America, a Washington D.C. think-tank, ranked each of the top 25 schools in terms of their graduation success rate — or GSR — and determined how the players from […]

We all know Alabama head coach Nick Saban and Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn make a lot of money — $7 million for Saban and $3.85 million for Malzahn, respectively. And so do members of their staffs, according to USA Today’s just-released list of college football’s highest paid assistant coaches. Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart […]

Not content with just setting multiple records on the field during Saturday’s Iron Bowl slugfest, Alabama and Auburn shattered several all-time marks off the field, as well. ESPN’s first broadcast of the game in seven years averaged 13,529,000 viewers and posted a 7.4 rating, which is ESPN’s most-watched and highest-rated regular season college football game […]

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — With the Iron Bowl over, the regular season has ended and Alabama head coach Nick Saban is ready to start something new. Alabama’s been in playoff mode for weeks now, with every win advancing its standing and every potential loss serving as a season-ender. This week is no different as the Crimson […]

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Iron Bowl is never boring. With revenge on its mind, Alabama started slowly before eventually running away with a 55-44 win over Auburn Saturday in the highest scoring Iron Bowl ever. “Somebody asked me how would you characterize this team,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “I would say that they […]

This year's Iron Bowl could be won through the air

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.–While both Alabama and Auburn have earned their reputation for being strong running teams, this year’s Iron Bowl may be decided through the air. Alabama’s passing game is on a torrid pace under new offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin and quarterback Blake Sims, and should be primed for a big weekend against an Auburn defense […]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Four Alabama metropolitan areas ranked among the nation’s 100 “Smartest Cities” in an analysis that examines which metro areas are gaining brainpower in the 21st Century. To compile its list, researcher NewGeography scored the nation’s 380 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) based on three criteria related to gains in educational attainment since 2000. […]

It is the most memorable ending to a college football game — maybe ever. It’s been played and replayed thousands of times. It won an ESPY Award. Verne Lundquist ranked it the best sporting event he’s ever called. But a year removed from the now (in)famous Kick-Six Iron Bowl, Alabama is No. 1 again, and […]

In his regular Monday press conference, Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke about the different feeling surrounding the Iron Bowl game against Auburn. “When you play in big games like this, that have a lot of meaning to a lot of people, you don’t compare it to anything,” Saban said. “You just know that there’s […]

For the second time in three weeks, ESPN’s traveling college football pregame show College Gameday will be live from the Walk of Champions in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The show most recently visited Alabama for the Mississippi State game, and is on its way back for this year’s Iron Bowl. Gameday was present at last year’s Iron […]

There was some shifting in the college football landscape this weekend, with one key team losing and many just barely surviving. Alabama beat No. 1 Miss. State, which didn’t surprise too many people as the Crimson Tide was the clear favorite. Florida State continued to win, TCU almost lost to Kansas, and Auburn has lost […]

After a disappointing 2012 season, Auburn had a problem selling its season tickets last year, but surprisingly, during the SEC championship run of 2013 it had an even tougher time finding buyers for its final two SEC games. A report from the Wall Street Journal this week detailed the Auburn athletic department’s trouble filling seats after the […]

With Auburn losing, a hole was left vacant in the College Football Playoff top four. The top two shifted, with Miss. State and Oregon at first and second, respectively. The Ducks jumped Florida State for the second slot, with the Seminoles coming in third. TCU came in at No. 4, leaving Alabama static in fifth. Auburn fell out […]

Yesterday an Auburn fan named Charles from Reeltown, Alabama, called into the Paul Finebaum Show to defend the Tigers after losing to Texas A & M. Things didn’t go well for Charles. “How’d that Auburn going undefeated and winning the National Championship prediction come out?” Finebaum said, apparently referencing a previous call from Charles. The […]

With each passing week in college football, a team or two is eliminated from Playoff contention. These highly ranked teams all happen to play each other, which helps prevent outright chaos and keeps the fans of those teams truly in contention a little calmer. Alabama survived its trip to Death Valley, Auburn fumbled away a […]
