Study ranks Alabama’s safest and most dangerous cities

Crime Scene

Safe Choice Security News, a home security blog, recently ranked Alabama’s safest and most dangerous cities based on data gleaned from the 2012 FBI Crime Statistics report.

“After comparing FBI statistics on violent crime rates in cities around Alabama,” Safe Choice calculated each city’s “crime index.” The higher the score, the safer a city is.

Earlier this month, Safe Choice released its full list of the 15 safest cities in the Yellowhammer State, along with the 15 most dangerous cities.

The top 3 safest cities and the top 3 most dangerous cities, according to the study, are all suburbs of Birmingham, illustrating the vast difference between the Birmingham metro area’s poorer, crime-infested regions and the more affluent, safer municipalities “over the mountain.”

The full list can be found below. Any surprises?
