Sellers uses mailer to hit her HD74 opponents for being soft on crime

Alabama House District 74 candidate Heather Sellers doesn’t believe her Republican primary opponents are concerned about crime, and she’s delivering that message to voters in a mail piece dropping this week.

Business owner Dimitri Polizos and former Montgomery Public School Board president Charlotte Meadows are Sellers’ opponents. Their names are displayed prominently on Sellers’ mailer next to the proclamation that “the word ‘crime’ fails to appear anywhere on the candidates’ websites or brochures.”

Montgomery’s crime problem has been well documented, but it’s rare for a state house candidate to make crime the main focus of their campaign. Polling in most areas of the state suggests that jobs and the economy are far and away the top priorities for voters when they got to the polls.

Sellers is hoping to use distinguish herself from the competition using her unique messaging strategy. Will it resonate with voters?

The mail pieces can be seen below. The HD74 special primary election is set to be held Oct. 8.
