Auburn Student Body named Most Conservative in the Nation

YH Samford Hall Auburn UniversityThe Auburn family may be excited for the upcoming football season with new head coach Gus Malzahn, but students have an even better reason to yell, “War Eagle” this semester: they were just named “most conservative student body” in the country by Princeton Review.

The Princeton Review surveyed hundreds of thousands of student at 378 colleges nationwide on 67 different categories. Questions for the survey ranged from political views of students to who parties the hardest.

Students surveyed about their political views were asked if they were “Republican, right wing, Democrat, left wing, or middle,” and Auburn took the conservative crown.

Danielle Wall, Chair of the Auburn University College Republicans, was not surprised by the results.

“The Auburn College Republicans are excited for the upcoming year to grow our already large and active chapter by not only reaching out to existing Republicans on campus, but also by exposing more students to the GOP message of individual liberties.” Wall told Yellowhammer.

Wall noted that Auburn was ranked fourth overall in student-community relations.

“Auburn has always had a very involved, active student body,” Wall said. “We have always made a strong effort to get involved in the wider community, by helping candidates for political office, by educating students about the issues, and by getting students involved in the political process.”

Sports was also on the mind of many of the students surveyed.

Not surprisingly, Auburn students surveyed were passionate about their athletic programs and Greek life. Auburn ranked in the top 15 for “packing the stadium” and for being a “jock school.”

The survey is being published in the newest edition of the Princeton review “Best Colleges” Guidebook, on sale now.

For those keeping score at home, The University of Iowa took home to real prize: Top Party School.
