Tuesday afternoon, Alabama State Rep. Chad Robertson (R-Heflin) announced the launch of his re-election campaign.

Robertson represents HD40, which spans all of Cleburne County and much of southeastern Calhoun County.

“It has been my honor to serve the people of this district,” Robertson said in a statement.

“We have successfully reduced the state tax on groceries, completely eradicated the state tax on baby diapers and formula and reduced the tax burden on seniors. All in all, we have saved Alabamians more than $170 million and I’m proud of the relief those efforts provided to hardworking Alabama families.”

Robertson has held his seat since 2022, when he emerged victorious in a hotly-contested GOP primary before going on to win the general election in a landslide. In July of that year, Robertson claimed 50.2% of the vote to defeat fellow Republican Julie Borrelli in a runoff; four months later, he received 82.8% of the vote against Democrat Pam Howard.

A U.S. Navy veteran and former executive director of the Cleburne County Chamber of Commerce, Robertson’s legislative priorities reflect his background.

Over his three years in the Alabama House, he has been appointed to the Military and Veterans Affairs committee, the Economic Development and Tourism committee, the Constitution, Campaigns and Elections committee, and the Permanent Joint Legislative Committee on Energy Policy, among others.

The Alabama Republican Party primary election will take place on May 19, 2026.
