Alabama Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter recently joined renowned broadcaster and storyteller Fred Hunter for a detailed discussion on his DeKalb County beginnings and early years in politics all the way to his latest legislative work during the 2024 session.

“As a family, we just got by,” Ledbetter told Hunter of his childhood. “But we always made sure we had enough, and I think that was a lot of Appalachia. I mean, we live in the foothills, and that was just a part of it.”

“I do believe that made us work harder and understand the value of life in general.”
