Alabama is set for its annual back-to-school sales tax holiday, offering shoppers a chance to get ready for the school year without the burden of state sales and use taxes on select items.
The three-day holiday begins midnight July 21 and runs until midnight July 23.
Shoppers can use the 4% sales tax waiver on clothing items priced at less than $100, school supplies valued at $50 or less per item, books priced below $30, and tablets, laptops, computers, and printers priced under $750.

Alongside the state’s sales tax waiver, more than 325 cities and counties in Alabama also elect to waive their local sales and use taxes during the holiday – with potential savings reaching up to 10% in some areas.
That is, unless you plan to shop in one of the following cities:
