Second arrested in Alabama A&M shooting

A second suspect in last week’s Alabama A&M shooting has been arrested after being discharged from Huntsville Hospital.

Christopher Thomas, 20, was charged with assault and booked into the Madison County Jail Sunday evening.

The shooting allegedly began as a fight between two students outside of the Knight Center and resulted in three people being injured.

Willie Brandon Nance, 23, the other alleged shooter, was booked into Madison County Jail on aggravated assault charges last week.

The school sent out a campus alert on its social media pages immediately after the shooting took place.

Dr. Daniel Wims, Alabama A&M president, addressed the incident.

“I understand the concerns this incident has raised. Please know that we remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our campus community. We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and take necessary actions to prevent such incidents in the future.”
