One of the leaders of the Democratic Party of Alabama thinks there is a good chance to flip a district blue, even though President Donald Trump dominated the there in the 2024 election.

Tabitha Isner, Vice Chair of the Alabama Democratic Party, is openly recruiting for a Democrat to vie for the District 47 State House seat, which is currently State Rep. Mike Shaw (R-Hoover).

“Looking for a Democrat to step up in District 47! This district spans Vestavia Hills to Hoover and is currently held by Republican Rep. Mike Shaw,” Isner said on Facebook. “Harris won 41% of the vote there in 2024, so if the 10 point shift to the Left continues, this seat can be won by a Democrat! Please talk to anyone you know in the area and help us identify a candidate!”

Isner’s push seems odd since Shaw won 64% of the vote when he was elected in 2022.

President Donald Trump won the state of Alabama with 64.8% of the vote.
